During a round of anzio i looked at the Thompson and noticed something that was odd. Now yes yes i play the Thompson a lot, however i noticed that it had a side action. However their are ones that have a Top action. Well this has been bothering me so i looked it up.

The Thompson that is in DoDS is an M1A1 Thompson SMG which normally had a 30 round mag. This is also the Thompson that had the side action and was put into service.

Now the Thompson that is in Rising Storm is a Thompson M1. This model had a Top action and could be fitted with a 30 round, 50 round and a 100 round. However the 30 round is a mag and the 50/100 is a Drum.

Please note that their are many models of the Thompson SMG.

Hopefully i did not confuse any information. Seeing as how i had my wisdom teeth pulled today and are still having some......side effects. Let's just say i could not stop laughing for...well half an hour. They had to stick me with an IV.

I would say they should all be full except for control. That things aims itself, you don't have any control.

dont blame the gun, blame the game. Besides you can all banter back and forth about the OP Thompson or what not. This post was meant to inform about different versions of the typewriter.

any who

Interesting. Thanks for the info!

I have to agree that it was very interesting. In most cases i have seen top action when it comes to movies and games. However i think the older COD's had the side action. I also think that was the same for medal of honor. Well allied assault, not Pacific assault. Pacific i think was a top action instead of the side action.

It always seemed that the Europe campaign has side actions while the Pacific had top action. Hench why you see drum mags in pacific. However the British had a variant of a Thompson that was drum i think. Seeing as how Brothers in arms had a drum Thompson. Only because the British tank commander gave you it.

I mean seriously, why does anyone use the sniper rifle. The tommy is much better at long range.

If the thompson in rising storm has a cutts compensator then its a m1928a1. It also has a longer barrel then the thompson m1 and m1a1. In dods the thompson and mp40 are the the worst class in the game next to the mg and should be taken out. the BAR and m1 garand should all have the same damage as the 1903 springfield if you want to get realistic since they fire the same bullet =) same with the browning 1917.

Does the BAR and M1 Garand generate the same muzzle velocity though?
I don't know the answer to that question and I'm not sure if it makes a difference, lol. But it did arouse my curiosity, lol.

I probably should have used a better Thompson image, because the Rising Storm Thompson will only look like that once you achieve level 50 with it. The first Thompson is a 20 round mag, and then the 30 round.

Depends on how you use the class. The Assault is not to run and gun everything. The assault is meant for capping points and small hit and runs. Of course those jobs could be argued, that's what I use it for and it works well. As for the MG, he is suppose to lock down 1 position, not rambo everything.

However if we really wanted realistic stuff, make the guns jam, add suppression, a panic meter for new players, weather which can change the terrain and every gun has the chance to 1 shot everything, not just the Kar98. The list goes on, but this is an "arcade" game.

The Rising Storm graphics look awesome, I'll hopefully be able to check it out sometime soon.

Thanks for the write-up!

well i am learning a lot reading all the post on this thread. the ppl crying over the Thompson get over it go bake some muffin or a cake :chair:

In all reality, the assault just seems to be luck. Based on its spread, you hit every major area in a cone shape. if that cone was more defined there would be less of those boom headshot kills.

That is reference to an Assault gun that has an under barrel Grenade launcher. Last time i check the Thompson was a sub machine-gun.

In all honesty why complain about what weapon is bad and such? I think the Kar98 is overpowered and should be removed? Will it? No

Come on people lets stay on topic, i do not wish to close this thread down for an off topic argument. I agree everyone has opinions, but sometimes they really aren't needed if it's just to bash on something.
