Probably getting a 360 for christmas, so how much does live cost a mont?

I believe it's around $7 a month. I'm not sure, I buy the three month card for $20.00

It's supposed to average out to $50 a year for a gold account (silver is free), IIRC.

Ok, for my second question:
What is the difference between Gold and Silver?

Silver is the "free" Xbox live, and gold is the one you pay for. Silver has everything that gold has EXCEPT play games online and download demos a week early. There are only two games right now that you can play online with silver, Final Fantasy XI, and Phantasy Star Universe (because you need to pay monthly for these MORPGs).
