Help I think I might be loosing interest in TF2

Past few weeks my interest to the game has reached a bit of a low. Been playing Boarderlands 2 that a friend got for me and I'm starting to get bored of that but still feel distant to TF2.

Part of the fact is that I know if it was not for you guys my interest in this game would have ended a long time ago. Its fun playing in the pubs and the occasional highlander match but most of the time I really only play an hour or so before I have to turn in due to my late work hours.

Its sucks coming home from work at 6am pacific time to find all the servers empty with no one online and getting in only a few rounds by around 8-9am if I'm lucky.
Lately I really only patrol the servers to help fill and do admin work.

I could say my interests is currently drifting but I really love this community so here I am asking you guys for help on what could get me interested in this game again.

Counting keys, strange items, the few events I have bought items for here as well as server donations I can say I have spent at least $600 towards my continued enjoyment to this game.

for me tf2 comes in waves, sometimes ill really be into it, sometimes i hate playing it, my advise, find a game you really like, and spend a few days playing it, then come back to tf2, thats what i do

I can understand your feelings completely, there just isn't the time to play much, and when you do play, you find it lacking the joy it once had due to lack of players/challenge. Having 18 hour days sucks, and then complicate it with a odd sleep schedule, and you will have a tough time getting enjoyment from your past.

My best suggestion in the tf2 area is to do your best to get the random people on sometimes when you are on, to keep coming back, to slowly increase your enjoyment by getting more of the same people back each time, and try a different assortment of classes, to bring beauty and variety to the tf2 experience.

In the real-life area, I suggest more time spent with a significant other, or getting a significant other if neccessary. Or maybe get a kitten. Those are nice.

You did not lose me to that game. Beat it within a few days, easy game not nearly as challenging as TF2 as far as skill is concerned. Even with Vault Hunter Mode it offers nothing more then AI opponents where here you have to out play another human.

I'd suggest taking a break for awhile.

I've also been getting bored with TF2. Now that school has started, all the servers are empty in the mornings and I hate filling.

Have you tried MGEing, Lobbys, different classes, fighting people that are good at the game, ect.
