eGO Resigns Call of Duty

Statement by Artimus & eGO Council

<div style="width: 500px; text-align: center" align="center">eGO has decided to close our Call of Duty Division due to dwindling support from members and the CoD community. It was a tough call, with weeks of discussion at the highest levels. In the end, the difficult decision had to be made.

Each division takes a significant amount of resources to maintain the great gaming experience we want our members to have. We do our best to provide those resources for games our community is interested in playing, and even gamble with others in the hopes that we can generate some interest.

With that in mind, we will be looking to support Call of Duty: Ghosts, when it launches in mid-November, with a server and forum space. That is, if the developers follow through with their promise of dedicated servers.

We've asked DarkRaven and whoflungpooatwho to remain as Advisors while we figure out the details of how to proceed with Ghosts. All other COD leadership has been stepped down with our sincere thanks for doing their best to keep the division afloat.

What terrible news :crying: At least the members aren't being split, and they can still choose to play with other ex-division members, and they can get interested in other divisions.

I'm crying on the inside right now. CoD was the division I was first joined and what first brought me to eGO. The only only silver lining me on a purely selfish note is no one had more kills than me with the P90 silencer. Good times, great times back then.

I hate to see eGO lose a division, but honestly it should not come as a shock to anyone. All iterations of Call of Duty since Modern Warfare have been delivered lackluster gameplay and core capabilities to build a community. Namely, the inability to either host or rent a ranked dedicated server or a dedicated server outright. Until development is driven for the PC rather than for the console and then ported to PC, there is little hope of the series proving to be valuable for any PC community outside of a group of friends matchmaking. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Ghosts, but considering the trend of PC gaming in the past few years, I doubt that anything outside of a console port will be provided.

I don't want to seem like I'm ragging on CoD, so I will say that, as a former OP:X Council that the majority of PC games are failing to provide communities with the necessary components for building a community around their games.

Off to =FatalForces= servers I guess. I only have two games on my mac, COD is one. WOW is the other, and I have a guild for that.

I loved the EGO server, which is why I joined the clan - Agent 86, DragonD, etc, etc. You all schooled me hard, but occasionally I had a good run But it was really family friendly and an all around higher IQ than any servers I know. Thanks for keeping it alive as long as you did.

Signing off I guess, If Mac OS X has COD Ghosts I might resurface. I'll keep the tags as an advertisement for you all in other clans.

R.I.P cod division we had a good run indeed and im sad that i couldnt be there when it went down but my silly real life got suckish.

I enjoyed my time in the cod division and hopefully ghosts will re-ignite the interest.

I apologize for a little bump, but I wanted to add my respects.

I originally joined eGO as a part of the Insurgency Division. But for a summer, 60 days, my time was spent with the COD Division. We spent our days messing around on COD4, running some awesome events and maps (Which I surprised everyone by winning one). I was the guy who only knifed, and was proud of it.

Good times were had, and they will not be forgotten. Shoutout to the old COD Leadership, you guys were awesome.
