So I got an award today, Admin Trainer. I was going to send a PM to Skag thanking him for the recognition, but then it occurred to me that he was the messenger and, despite how much I respect him and admire his effort for the division (if not everyone else in our division leadership) my thanks really go to the community.

I got into this game for my son. Hence the name I gave myself. But in my ignorance of how these digital timewasters work I didn't realize that I couldn't play on my PC while he plays on his Xbox. No fps experience, EVER! (What a noob!) Unable to play with him I "killed time" learning how to play, and found anonymous play on various servers for several months, until my first visit to eGO's Heavy Metal. I really was a noob, an idiot who had no idea how to play to win. I found a team, and one that welcomed a noob and patiently taught him while rejecting the gamer attitude that required at least one Alt-F4 joke at the expense of the noob. (Yeah, I fell for that, ONCE.)

I joined, I got promoted, I got into vent and met lots of great people (and a few trolls). I went through a "why can't we win this" phase and an "H9 just has to be cheating" phase and a "fine, we're all going to just camp then" phase. I got Pass1ve Menis' tags and was on top of the world, and got sniped by Moridous from 500 meters away and laughed about it. I once placed AT mines where no one would look and "accidentally" got four guys in a jeep. I sneak up behind tanks, place mines, and then toss a grenade on them. I once spent ten minutes or more slowly sneaking up on three camping tanks and was able to simultaneously C4 all of them. It was awesome.

I SPOT because I'm not playing with myself.

I found out that a real gamer is competitive but says "please," laughs in the face of "pretend death" and then grabs a vehicle and charges forward again. A real admin kicks a rule breaker but then says "welcome back" when he returns. A gamer says "ns" when it is a nice shot, and then hunts the guy who made it to return the favor. I found out how to work my k/d to above 3.0, but realized that it's more fun to run toward the bullets, to flank the sniper who's not looking and show him the business end of a repair tool, and to be the one who got 150 points for being first to retake B. I got a 500+ meter headshot and patted myself on the back for days.

When the real world gets in the way and I can't play, I really do miss it; even though when I can play I risk getting balanced to the team that can't play well. You guys (and girls, Lioness & Chew) are the best. Even in the worst team defeat it is my honor and pleasure to game with you and be associated with eGO.

I got an award today, but the BF division helped me earn it. Thanks to all of you.

Papa

I've never seen you in Vent before, but I have only been in this division for 3 months (I think...). See you sometime to Vent perhaps? Oh, and almost forgot, congrats!

Every award Papa gets, he deserves, he is always on and I find is always a pleasure to be around. I mean everyone can be a nut sometimes but I am glad he is around! Congrats brother!

Post of the decade right here folks. Can we get him another award Skag? Really.

Good job Papa.

Congrats papa

and

"and got sniped by Moridous from 500 meters away and laughed about it." I couldn't help myself I started laughing when I got to this part. Made my day thank you buddy.

Gratz Papa  even tho you dont like me cos im from Texas :chair:
that is why i joined eGO, the way the servers are run it makes people want to play in them. if you are a noob or not, then you feel welcome to mess up with out having to put up with players being rude to you and calling you names. it is nice to play in a place where you can just enjoy the game with fellow eGO members and friends.

Awesome post Papa! Some others I have read come close but yours is tops so far! You and a few others are the ones I look up to here at eGO and attempt model myself after. Congrats on the award. It is well deserved from this viewpoint.
