Hey everyone,

I hope all of you are doing well. I thought I would weigh in on the ultimate question of which is better: CS Source or CS GO. Here's my opinion:

So, for 1 full month, I decided to put aside CS Source and only play CS GO to fully grasp what the GO version had to offer. I must also add that I have been playing Counter Strike since the beginning and have played every version of it. That being said, and in my opinion, CS Source is a better game overall than CS GO.

CS GO does have the better graphics and better map upgrades and that can't be argued...but that is where it ends. Game physics are simply not the same in CS GO than they are in CS Source...or for any other past Counter Strike version. The game physics are better in CS Source...by far!

CS GO has addopted more of a Call of Duty type of physics and I am not a fan of Call of Duty. Don't get me wrong, COD lovers are not better or worse than CS lovers...but they aren't the same game.

CS GO is slower and less accurate. There is more "luck" allowed in CS GO than in CS Source and I believe that it reduces the actual skill needed to play the game. Making it less entertaining for skilled players and more actractive for the general public.

The hardcore gamers I know either like COD or CS Source. Valve made an attempt to merge these two types of players in one game and came up with CS GO.

The game physics surrounding the hitbox in CS Source is unbeatable, nothing comes close to it. You need skill to get a high percentage of headshots in Source. Yes there is some luck in CS Source also but it is not dominant as in CS GO.

Don't get me wrong, CS GO is not a game that I would not recommend, it's just not the game for me.

If I were to change something about CS Source, it would be to upgrade its graphics to the quality in GO...

CS Source is for me! :thumbup1:

I find the gunplay in cs:go to be far more skill dependant as randomly spraying is far less likely to earn you instant headshots than it is in source. Not that it makes a difference; my helmet gets shot off my head in half a second anyway.

I also prefer the grenade physics of cs:go to the ones of source. The grenades have smaller hitboxes and are a bit easier to throw through/around objects. Not that that makes a difference either as grenades suck in GO.

What are these physics you speak of?

The Source engine physics are Havoc Physics derived. Maybe in CSGO they've been optimized for netcode and such but I dont notice any difference in physics.

Being both engines for CoD and CSS/CSGO (Source) are derived from the Quake Engine.

Quake > GoldSrc > Source > Source 2
Quake > IW Engine > IW 4/5 Engine

They're both really good games tbh. Yes, source takes skill, but in its own way. csgo is no walk in the park either though, 2 complete different games. You have to get used to the recoils on csgo, which is a huge jump from css. Both my number 1 fps games though.

Rdk I have to agree with you completely. I see people on source spraying ak's all around while that's almost impossible in GO. And the grenade physics and hitboxes makes it much easier to make that tight nade throw

Two different games, hard to compare.

I like CSGO a lot more.
