Pretty simple mouse help

SO, pretty simple... But I seem to forget and spend hours trying to figure it out...

I have 4 mouse buttons on my mouse.
I was wondering how to change the function of mouse buttons 3 and 4.
So far they do nothing, however in browsers they work as Back and Forward page functions.

I wanted to use them in other ways when I am not in-game and was wondering how I could change this? If possible?

Did your mouse come with a CD to install a driver?

No, I do not believe so.
If it did, I might of thrown it out.

I was hoping it would help, turns out my mouse doesn't support Microsoft Intellipoint.

If you can find the drivers online, it's probably possible to have profiles set up to switch between gaming and non-gaming as my mouse is capable of with the drivers. They're online and on a disc for me.

But it seems to be for a different model.
