OK, I know it was discussed in the meeting and it was said that we should "fight out of it", but come on . . . I just played 2 games where we had a medic/heavy sitting right outside the spawn point and triggering the door up . . . we had no chance. This is not whining, this is asking where we draw the line of playing fair. I don't mind dying, but when my team and I don't even get a chance to fight, that's not right. I think we need to address this issue a bit more directly . . . there were no admins on this morning when this happened, so it might not have been an issue.

Spawn camping is playing classless. It's not whining to dislike it, it's reacting to poor sportsmanship.

What's the admin stance on spawn camping? Is it a kickable offense?

Spawn camping is just part of the game. If your offensive rush is so weak (or gets spread far enough forward) that they manage to get someone outside your base, that's their game. Ask for support from your team if there's any further forward, or ubercharge someone and rush 'em.

It's not "no chance," there's plenty of ways to get around it. I've seen everything from a scout cloaking out while a few others distracted, then coming in and backstabbing the Heavy, to an ubercharged pyro just burnin' them out while they didn't have an uber. Without a dispenser, a heavy or pyro will run out of ammo quickly, anyway.

Heck, I've even BEEN the Heavy or Medic on games like that, and know it's quickly ended by a demo or soldier with some skill. They can pop out and drop the medic in a second, then come back for the heavy or pyro.

I don't complain when I'm on the recieving end of such a tactic either, it's really not that hard to overcome with some teamwork.

Aight . . . just want it to be said that it's poor sportsmanship and I won't do it. When it happens to me, the only sound you'll hear is me biting my lip.

yea there is people that spawn camp but it could be that there afk or there doing something and i dont spawncamp :)

Until Valve decides to add a 1-2 second unvulnerability to eliminate such tactics, we can do nothing but wait in the spawn for enough buddies to work together to kill the spawn camper.

Still, it irritates me to no end when it happens. Especially when it's a demoman plugging the door.

Well, it's poor sportsmanship, either way. We'll get it fixed, no worries!

What you must understand is that this "spawncamping" is part of the game, and you must fight your way out of it.

Its a tactic and so you and your teammates must also have a tactic to get out, its not poor sportsmanship but yet another way to kill your enemies out of the hundreds of other tactics out there.

Happy Hunting!

exactly!

Why give them free ground? Make them fight for EVERY inch!

Just use teamwork to take them out

I think it's a really cheap tactic, but I agree wholeheartedly with Romantic and Blackhawk... it's not really that difficult to get out of.

If it's a demo camping, send one guy out to sacrifice himself, and then charge when he has no stickies left. Soldier? Well, he only has four rockets before he has to reload.

Heavy's probably the hardest, but he runs out of ammo fairly quickly, and can only take a couple people at once.

Okay we have listened to everyones opinion on this and have made the decision this is ok. From now on this is just how its going to be guys, dont let them get in close or your gonna have hell getting them out.

Please let it rest now, thread locked.
