If you have a tablet please let me know what you purchased and why. Maybe you can help determine what I need.

My needs: Looking to put my T.V.'s app on it to control my T.V.'s functions. To be able to access emails and other online content while watching T.V. and in between commercials. To be able to play games on it for when I'm traveling. There are so many to choose from and so many different sizes. I'd appreciate some help in deciding what's right for me. Thanks in advance.

I'm currently stuck looking at Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1" 16GB Tablet (guess cause i own Sg3 phone) So I'm looking forward to the replys in your thread!!!

Its also best to probably go to a store that has most of the tablets and mess around with them to see what you like and dislike....

It's funny your should mention the Samsung Galaxy 3. I'm thinking of getting the Galaxy Note 3 myself. I hope my post gets more replies to better help us out more.

I do like the new Ipad Air and the Ipad min with it's retina display but the features on the androids seem to out weight the Ipad as many of them can use removable SD cards. With that you can add your own collection of music to listen to instead of being forced to purchase music to download which will take up space in a Ipad. Also the same goes for picture or movie taking too.

I have friends who have the iPhone and there having synch problems. When they add songs on their phone and delete other songs on their phone but to keep them for another time. Then they try to synch the phone with their chosen songs on the computer, the computer ends up deleting their saved, deleted songs on the phone. So they can't ever use the synch option between their phone and computer which makes me more of a pain in the butt.

I don't know anything about the computer synching of androids to phones.

When you say the Android Apps suck, can you please make your opinion more broad. We need to know why it sucks and the problems you have been having. Also the software versions of Androids make a big difference too.

I own a first gen iPad Mini and love it. I had borrowed a friend's iPad 3 to see what I thought, but after using it I decided that although the larger screen is nice, it's just too large and heavy to be used casually. By that I mean (speaking for myself) it's too heavy to conveniently hold for a long period of time with one hand. Sure I can kind of balance it with one hand, but eventually my wrist gets tired and it's just a pain. My iPad Mini, however, is just the right size. Physically I can hold it in one hand, griping with my thumb on one side and my other fingers on the other.


To me, my first gen Mini's screen is fine. Sure if I compare it side by side to a Retina display it's not going to look at sharp, but looking at it alone (for reading, browsing, games, etc.) it is perfectly fine.

As for the screen size, I think once you have it you'll be fine with it. Your mind is going to say that you want the largest one, but honestly in terms of actual size and weight, I'm perfectly content with my Mini. Especially the fact that it's super light and very thin.

And as for the OS (Apple/Android), I think it all depends on your other devices. E.g.: I have an iPhone and Macbook Pro. Therefore I was able to have many seamless features between all three devices since they are all Apple products. If you don't have any Apple products, I would probably recommend looking towards an Android device. Although I don't know much about the tablet market anymore, I would recommend the Google Nexus 10, as my girlfriend's brother has one and loves it.

If you get rt you must love IE.. and half useful MSoffice.

Imo, save your money and get a laptop. For $500-$600 you can get a decent laptop which can do more than any tablet.

We have 2 Kindle Fire HDs and we love them. We got them because we have Amazon Prime and we get a ton of free content with them because of that. The only thing that you're saying that you'd have to look into would be the remote for your TV thing. Other than that any decent tablet will do everything else you're looking for. Just double check to make sure that the app store you pick has the app you need to control your TV before buying. For us, the Kindle controls our Rokus if we want them to, but I just do it on my phone most times. Apple products are a little pricy for what you're getting in my opinion. I have a Samsung phone and I like it. For my money though, Amazon has such great customer service that it was easy to choose them over the other two major manufacturers.

I have a android phone, but I am typing this message from a Ipad2. I bring this with me for all my business trips. I end up getting the most use out of this with netflix and Battlefield Commander. I am sure you can get that with non apple products as well though.

The important thing when choosing a tablet is understand what will be its primary uses/functions. Entertainment, gaming, videos, work. Once you figure out the primary purpose, think about the features you need to have, would like to have, and don't need. Three quick features to name and think about: Cameras. Will you need, want one or not? Battery life. How much life do you need for it to have while playing games, videos, browsing, reading, or combination thereof? MicroSD card slot. Personally, I need that feature as I sometimes end up in areas where I don't have access to the Internet (but do have access to a electric outlet, go fig)

Personally, I don't consider iPads since I'm not an Apple fan, but that's just a decision by me. There do exist advantages when you buy certain tablets, if only for compatibility sake. iPads + iTunes. Samsung + Samsung TV and other products. Amazon Kindle + Amazon Prime. Lots of things to consider and figure out what means the most to you.

I loved my Zune, when I had it. Sadly, it spend the night in a bag that somehow fell out of my tent into some rain.

MS Office is a godsend on my phone. It's so bloody useful, especially with the constant updates to Skydrive so I can access it at home.

Same with IE. I'd much rather use Chrome on my laptop, but IE on my mobile Windows devices is actually not that bad at all. It loads far faster than I've seen most mobile browsers (barring the newer versions of Android).

I looking or something to take pictures and upload them to Facebook, check emails, surf the web and would like to play games more of the intense type games. I'm debating if 16 gig is enough our should I opt for 32. 64 a very maybe but is pretty expensive and 128 is way out of my price range for what I'm wanting to do. I also like the removable SD card feature as I can add my own music to listen to and for picture/video taking. Thanks for replying to my post.
