I have a android phone, but I am typing this message from a Ipad2. I bring this with me for all my business trips. I end up getting the most use out of this with netflix and Battlefield Commander. I am sure you can get that with non apple products as well though.

What's your Ipad memory? Thanks for replying to my post.

We have 2 Kindle Fire HDs and we love them. We got them because we have Amazon Prime and we get a ton of free content with them because of that. The only thing that you're saying that you'd have to look into would be the remote for your TV thing. Other than that any decent tablet will do everything else you're looking for. Just double check to make sure that the app store you pick has the app you need to control your TV before buying. For us, the Kindle controls our Rokus if we want them to, but I just do it on my phone most times. Apple products are a little pricy for what you're getting in my opinion. I have a Samsung phone and I like it. For my money though, Amazon has such great customer service that it was easy to choose them over the other two major manufacturers.

Thanks for replying to my post. I'll look into the Kindle Fire. I don't have Amazon Prime but was thinking of getting it.

If you get rt you must love IE.. and half useful MSoffice.

Imo, save your money and get a laptop. For $500-$600 you can get a decent laptop which can do more than any tablet.

Thanks for replying to my post. I understand, but I'm looking for more portability and to sit in front of my TV and surf the net at the same time or while traveling, play some tunes and games while in the air.

I own a first gen iPad Mini and love it. I had borrowed a friend's iPad 3 to see what I thought, but after using it I decided that although the larger screen is nice, it's just too large and heavy to be used casually. By that I mean (speaking for myself) it's too heavy to conveniently hold for a long period of time with one hand. Sure I can kind of balance it with one hand, but eventually my wrist gets tired and it's just a pain. My iPad Mini, however, is just the right size. Physically I can hold it in one hand, griping with my thumb on one side and my other fingers on the other.

To me, my first gen Mini's screen is fine. Sure if I compare it side by side to a Retina display it's not going to look at sharp, but looking at it alone (for reading, browsing, games, etc.) it is perfectly fine.

As for the screen size, I think once you have it you'll be fine with it. Your mind is going to say that you want the largest one, but honestly in terms of actual size and weight, I'm perfectly content with my Mini. Especially the fact that it's super light and very thin.

And as for the OS (Apple/Android), I think it all depends on your other devices. E.g.: I have an iPhone and Macbook Pro. Therefore I was able to have many seamless features between all three devices since they are all Apple products. If you don't have any Apple products, I would probably recommend looking towards an Android device. Although I don't know much about the tablet market anymore, I would recommend the Google Nexus 10, as my girlfriend's brother has one and loves it.

Hopefully this helps.

Thanks for replying to my post. I don't have any Apple products but do like the size of the Ipad Mini.

Thanks for the link. It was very helpful to me. Also thanks for replying to my post.

I should mention that I own a Motorola Xoom (Android), iPhone 3/4/5, iPad 1, iPad 3, the family has iPhone's, iTouch's, iPad's and Nexus 7 (Android) tablets.

We are heavy users of Netflix, Amazon Prime Instant Video and Hulu on all of the devices including Apple TV and Roku's.

I'll be adding an iPad Air and a Nexus 5 phone in the near future.

I really like Android, being a Linux guy, but the Apple hardware, operating system, and apps are much more polished and well designed. The Android operating system, apps and hardware are getting better all the time though.

A lot of people tell me that I need 32 to 64 gig to play games. What type of games do you play and do you think 16 gig is enough to play games with? Thanks for replying to my post.

When I play games on my iPad I remove them after I beat the game or stop playing it, so I never run out of space. If you keep every game you download I could see how you would need 32-64 gigs depending on how many games you get. Most games I see are HD so they take around 300 MB each.

If you have to many games and you can't download another, delete some you don't play. Find yourself saying, "Oh but I love all these games." Then why do you need another? But you can also delete a game, play another, delete that game, then download the one you deleted previously. I have a cousin that has like a ton of movies on his and he only had room for a couple of games and that's how he does it.
