A question on the worth of some stranges

Why are the Who-Long Heater and the Scout's Pepperbox (I've renamed both, so these might not be official names) worth so little? I had offers for .33 ref! I thought strange items were worth more. Was I mistaken?

Welcome, my friend to the TF2 economy. Where things don't make sense and I refuse to try to understand them.

Not all stranges are created equal. Some are worth more than others because of scarcity. When you open a crate there's a chance of getting something good. Some weapons have a higher drop rate in crates than others. The two weapons you mentioned are probably common drops from crates, so there's an abundance of them in the market. And as supply and demand goes, the more you have the less people will pay for it because of how common it is.

If I'm wrong with this, someone feel free to correct me on it.

Not exactly.

Basically, there are two factors: Supply and Demand.

Every other month or so Valve releases a new crate. Sometimes they have new stranges, but most of the time they are re-releases. Every time a re-release comes out, its previous price drops dramatically. The supply goes up, meaning there are way more of these stranges than people who would ever use them. Thus the price goes down. Some stranges haven't been released in a long time or are very rare, so they are worth more.

Another aspect of price is the demand. Both the Huo-Long Heater and the Shortstop aren't quite very sought-after weapons. Thus their price isn't much. Weapons like the Grenade Launcher (which, sadly, was just re-released) had a very inflated value because everyone wanted them.

And that, my friend, is economics.

Why would no one want a Gatling gun that also protects you from spy attacks through ring of fire?! Nah, what you are saying makes sense.

I had the concept right, just not the application.

'cause the fire sucks and it sucks your ammo. Spies can literally jump right over the fire and stab you without every being set alight.

Unfortunately, it chews through ammo to the point of being a liability most of the time. It IS the coolest looking Heavy primary. So, there is that.

As a person who frequents spy, I can say that makes absolutely no difference :)

Let me just say something:
I gave away 4 Strange Neon Annihilators for free. It's one of the hardest Strange Weapons to sell. Each one is .11.
Just that.
