Cfg question

I have been playing for a while but never really got into making more then a simple cfg file.

My question is pretty simple do i need to make a autoexe.cfg config.cfg and a userconfig.cfg?

It seems like i put alot of the same in each file can't i just use one?

What commands are you trying to put in ?

You only need autoexec.cfg if you are trying to make a config.

You could just put those in your config file and make sure they are not doubled up but you could always just put the in autoexec.cfg as well.

Just keep all of those in your autoexec.cfg file. You know that these commands need to have values also right?

Ok if i got this right i only need a autoexec file i dont need the other two at all.

Ya i know that they need values I just copyed off my blank txt.

Yes you will only need the autoexec.cfg

Autoexec is just a config file that starts on start up. You can put commands in a config file then type exec whateveryoucalled it and it will use those commands, so you can have those in your autoexec set to high values so your game looks nice, but if you want an fps boost you could have a config file where they are set low, and then type exec fps or whatever you called it and get an fps boost
