Why I came to eGO . . . .

I am 35 years old, and I was lucky enough to come into the online gaming scene when it really "came on". I started a clan of my own, as a player playing games at lan parties with friends . . . the reason I started the clan was so that we could identify ourselves as part of a group. We called ourselves Bad Company (BdCo). We wanted to identify ourselves because we were a group of friends and family who played for the same reasons . . . have fun, treat others well and again, have fun. We started as a Quake 1 clan and spilled into the original TF. We went to many lan parties and participated in many tournaments. Yes, we won some, and lost some. Through all of it, I had an idea (with my co-founder, Mikey-d) of what we wanted the clan to become. We never made it. I'm not sure why, but it didn't happen. I'm still in touch with every member we ever had . . and we've all met personally . . . Ok, sorry, I started to ramble . . . eGO is the idea I had . . . a serious group of serious players, wanting to have fun. Structured, organized and FUN! We have that here . . . Kendle handles the servers, edits maps and keeps us running . . . we have a full council, then advisors to keep things running. On top of that, we have a rank structure . . . e's, eG's, eGO's . . . whom the council and admins rely on to "make the wheels turn". This is truly, a work of art. I'm not trying to be sentimental here, but I want everyone to know just what goes into making a clan like this work. It's people . . people who want to play, and have fun. I've always likened it to being in a bowling league . . . we come every week (or more often in our case), we put on the same shirts (eGO tags), and we have fun. There are rules, yes . . . but every game has rules and that doesn't mean the game won't be fun.

Thank you to all who created this clan. This is what I wanted. I hope this is what many others have wanted as well. I am proud and honored to be a part of eGO.

My background's not too dissimilar... I've been into computers since I was a little kid. My dad practically spent his life savings buying and upgrading first-gen PCs like the Sinclaire. I first got into it with TRS-80s. Enter faster computers and FPS games... Wolfenstein, DOOM, Quake... then TF. I was an admin on a few different TF/Quake servers over the years it was in play. I've kept up with FPS games, but mostly I was into military action (Ghost Recon, etc.) and less into the Quake-ish. HalfLife and Counter-Strike were big favs, along with UT - several friends and I organized monthly LAN games where we would frag into the early hours.

Definitely one of the things that attracted me to eGO was the camaraderie that the members have. It's a bunch of 'friends', but with organization.

I love getting on Vent during a roadtrip and being able to smacktalk with everyone without people getting pissed off.

I bet you might have kicked me once or twice on one of those old QW servers . . . my hope with this post was to tell everyone just how hard it really is to get a clan to function this well . . and to salute those who have pulled it off. We got a good thing here. Please don't take it for granted.

Dude, your story sounds exactly the way I started, right down to the Quake days (remmeber downloading the GLPatch so you could use the first VooDoo card...LOL) , Sadly enough I am 5 years older than you (enjoy your 30's while you can bro.). I just wanted to join one last clan because I know there will never be another Team Fortress and it is the only game I like (PC) and I too prefer a no nonsense clan with no mandatory battles etc. and this is a great clan with some great members and excellent dedicated leaders (takes alot of time to do what they do).

I am pretty much in the same boat. 32 years old, been gaming since my mom bought an Apple IIc+ (go go Prince of Persia!)

I have tried many times to do something similar to what is going on here at eGO and it definitely isnt as easy as it looks. Glad I have found a decent community to be a part of, thanks for all the hard work mods/admins/council memebers!

Im 19 and played doom back when i was tiny. After not playing video games for a year during my first year of university i decided to get back in. Seeing the Orange Box on the shelf i was excited to buy it. After playing TF2 i was searching for a good clan to join. Met up with booster and Sharpshooter and they told me to join. I love it here, this clan seriously is like another family to me and i respect each and everyone of you for who you are not for what we do online. We are a group dedicated to the welfare of its members. We encourage having fun and passing on the knowledge of eGO.

You guys are all great people to hang out with, except for Spitfire, if you dominate me one more time i am going to hit you so hard with a baseball bat. lol.

Seriously though, All you guys at the top who keep us together, i really appreciate the patience that you have given members. You believe that everyone deserves a second chance and you work so hard to keep it together. So thanks to you guys for making it a wonderful experience for me and i promise to be on the servers after Monday.
