External Hard Drives

hey guys im look for a external hard drive for the ipod and what not. what do you suggest? (somthing not to big and not to pricey)

im going to use it for the ipod. store music on it and vids

It sounds to me like he wants a hard drive he can attach to the iPod to expand its capacity. But if they have those, I don't know about them. But I don't keep up on that stuff, I've got enough music on my second gen standard iPod to keep me happy for any extended drive.

I'm not sure the serial port on the iPod is designed to output power though, so you'd probably need a power source for the external HD too. Seems like a lot of hassle for more music, are the thousands of songs you already have not enough?

Lol no no no i want the hd for the comp. to store music on it instead of the internel ones. cuse i have a gamming rig and the music is taking up space so i want the external to use just for music and what not

Do you not have room in your box for more internal drives?

I've got three with room for 6 or 7 more if I get creative.

Do you care about transfer speed? Because that, more than size, is going to determine the real cost of an external drive. Also, what speed are your USB ports? Do you have any firewire ports?

dont really care about speed its just for music
looking for external so i can take it with me
yes i get extra usb ports and i not sure about firewire its a dell xps 700

80GB and I usually shop WD for my hard drives.

Don't keep anything on the drive that you don't have backed up elsewhere. External drives are notoriously less reliable than internal.
