Recently, things were not looking too great for Team Fortress 2 recruiting. Our numbers were a pittance, our focus was unclear, and our retention was abysmal. In January, we had only thirty-eight recruits in total, and only a fraction of them have gone on to be fully integrated into our community.

Beginning in February, Kazoo implemented a new plan for managing recruits. This idea was an amalgamation of several techniques to help foster the sense of community that continues to be our primary focus in the year 2014 for the TF2 Division. Part of the plan involves making welcome threads to allow new recruits to be greeted. Another part involves people checking up on the new recruits and ensuring they don't slip through the cracks. A separately conceived idea involves sending messages to new recruits on the forum to offer them support, contacts, and resources. All of this is painstakingly and meticulously documented to guarantee that no new member is left behind by carelessness or callousness.

Ladies and mentlegen, the reviews are in: compared to the 38 recruits we had in January, we had 67 in February. Most of those 67 have had someone meet with them individually to be a go-to person. Only four did not yet receive a welcome message of some kind. There are only two of the 67 who have definitely withdrawn from the community. Attendance at the e v. eG dog tag scrim last week was phenomenal. Rarely in recent memory has there been a dog tag scrim in which the eG team was outnumbered by the e team.

As I said in the February division meeting, appreciation is something very important. People work hard and rarely get the recognition they deserve for it. If you have some time, send some kind of offering of gratitude to the people who have helped bring in so many new friends to our community:

And every recruiter for the TF2 Division

Of course, if you feel that you want to help in some way in the continued development and enlargement of our community, you can do your part to recruit. Attend recruiting drives and recruiting classes. Compete in the Every Man Get A Man contest if you are eligible. Get out there and recruit. If you've been a G for at least a month, consider becoming a Recruitment Host. You, too, can be part of the Division's success story.

Thanks for making February a spectacular month!

Keep up the good work, feed me some apps to approve!
