$250.00 is average for a 760. He is not over paying.

You could easily shave some cash off that RAM as I believe $100.00 for 8 gigs is a little more than I would spend...

The 800 series will probably be released within 6-8 months.

The earliest model would come out during May. Im assuming this based on 700 series. This would be 870 and 880.

You can still run your computer without graphic card.
Since your mobo has VGA outlet.
 
Just built a new gaming rig back in November. I highly recommend you do some research on the hardware aspect on your own, very interesting stuff. you can easily build a gaming rig for under $1000. It can look intimidating at first, but once you understand the terms its quite simple.

=AMD vs. Intel=

Everyone has their own opinion which is better. I personally prefer Intel which is more expensive but some say more reliable. AMD however is more geared towards gaming and may provide the better experience you are looking for.

Cheaper? Yes
Better Performance? Need proof. Reviews I've read show that the 760 has better performance.

With that said, I would say the R9 270X is the better bang-for-the-buck GPU compared to the 760. No question from me on that. 20% cheaper (on average) to the 760 for only a 6% (on average) reduction in performance? Now, if the 760 was priced in the $220-$235 range, then it becomes a toss-up in price/performance. But at the +$250 range, the 760 is the higher performer, but the weaker bang for the buck.

Sorry i was thinking more along the lines price to performance, in the end you get free stuff with AMD cards plus $30-$50 cheaper than a 760 witch is about 2%-7% performance difference, which is why I was saying you overpaying for the 760 because 270x has a higher value in the end.

What free stuff are you talking about? lol.

With AMD mantle still being fairly new to the market, I would choose an Nvidia card in a heart beat. AMD Mantle is not supported by a lot of games and overall wont be the best gaming experience just yet. I do believe that AMD will make some great strides to be a top contender in my book soon when mantle is supported by more. The extra performance personally is worth it plus the support from game producers. It could mean the difference sometime later on down the road.

But I say wait for the 800 series to be released and pick up one of those if they arent $1000 retail. LOL. Dont cheap out as this is generally a very important component to you being able to play your games at what you want.

And for $230.00, You can easily pick up a 760 as PNY has them selling on Amazon for that price. He isnt over paying because thats the wrong term you're using. He is just paying for that extra performance and support.

All in all - Wait a couple months for Nvidia 800 series.

However, you need to go to the AMD site in order to redeem the code for the free BF4 game. I just researched that, but theres really no info on which site exactly is promoting this. Can you be a little more specific on who exactly is promoting these reward cards?
 
Did a little research on the topic. on Newegg, you can buy video cards that come along with free games: (Free game: Daylight w/ purchase, limited offer MSI Gaming GeForce GTX 770 N770 TF 2GD5/OC Video Card). You can also use the eGO website to navigate to Newegg, which supports us.

Of course, but it certainly wouldn't be high quality, and I'd rather pay for everything up front.

"Free games"...except that the price is knocked up $50-$60 per "free game" that you get. Look into it. Not worth it.
 
Question, when you guys say prices will drop, do you mean the 800 series or the previous ones?

You really wont see prices drop unless a big sale happens or the 800 series drops. Even then the prices arent expected to sputter and drop to under the $200.00 range. 800 series I can almost guarantee will nearly all be over $150+ all the way up to the thousands.
