You should know by now...valve is terrible at being reliable. I'm sure they know they screwed up and wont admit to it. Imagine how Gabe would feel.

I thought they did make a minor change not to long ago that added a checkbox if you wanted to play on official servers.

Yeah, unfortunately. And more importantly, why would they care?

More importantly, is Valve just being silent on the change? If we and other communities are complaining about it, and some are just shutting servers down, do they even acknowledge the impact they are having on the community, or care for that matter?

No Valve employee has responded to the concerns in the mailing list. Long ago one did say that the changes to QuickPlay was a huge change that is needed right now, but they are working on a better solution for the future. (Not sure how far into the future.) The changes were to combat other servers were falsely advertising their servers with bots and wrong tags as well as those servers giving premium perks.

If you go to Quick Play, you should see an options button where you can change if you want to go to official only, community servers, or any. Otherwise, by default, it's to official only.
