Bad Company 2 Getting used to talking, listening, and playing a game...

Alright, I know most of you guys have probably gamed using voice for years, but this is a first for me and it's taking a bit of getting used to.

I don't consider myself a 'gamer' in the way that most people use the word. I've only been interested in a handful of games over the years, even though I played those a lot.

I sold PC's during what I'm beginning to remember as The Golden Decade (between 1989 and 1999), but I was a utility geek who was into BBSing, customizing the new Windows, and then messing around with websites [side note - it took about 3 months for the web to completely kill the BBS. ANSI and Mecca characters were suddenly "What's that?" items]

I played a lot of DOOM...a lot, oy...and I played against friends quite a bit, but it used the phone lines and there wasn't any such thing as unlimited cell plans, lol. Beyond that, I was totally addicted to Descent and I ran through the first Half Life. I played Age of Empires when I wasn't into expending much energy, but that's about it.

Following the chat and listening to Teamspeak, much less talking, is affecting my game for now but it'll get better. right? :w00t:

...just thought you guys should know in case you noticed a drop in my normally, ahem, flawless gameplay.

The multiple inputs, particularly unrelated banter either in TS or in the chat window, can be distracting; but it only takes a little time to get used to. Stop the ADHD meds worked for me.

Start on TS with people on your squad, even if you have to change TS rooms to get together. It TOTALLY changes the game to have instant communication with the guys on your left and right.

(Just kidding about the ADHD meds.)

This is actually the first game that I've used voice for too. You'll get used to it I'm sure.
