No Flashbangs?

Hey I know it will probably never pass just like the people wanting paras taking off the servers. However I think It would be pretty cool to try out on maybe Italy or Office to see how well it does. I played a rotational server the other day with flashbangs restricted and the server was full of people. Just trying to come up with new ideas to bring people or keep people on servers.

I played a rotational server the other day with flashbangs restricted and the server was full of people.

Because the removal of flash-bangs changes the server so much. Also, if you played this server during the Mid-day to late afternoon EST, that's more likely to be the reason it was full.

In all seriousness though, what would this removal gain? I find the flash bang is an actual effective weapon. While it is annoying to be team flashed, when you have new, inexpierenced users coming into the server, they don't understand how they work.

When I first started playing CSS, I played in a server without flashes or smokes. When I played on a different server then returned to the first, I was displeased to find I couldn't use flash bangs.

So, like the para thread, should we limit a weapon that people can use?

I normally stay away from dust 2 because of the flashbangs. For the most part I,ve seen smoke used on the other 2 servers we have so I dont have any problems going there and will perfer Office/Italy over Dust 2.

Restricting flashbangs would change the server so much, and with Italy being a slightly CT sided map, I think the removal of flashbangs would only make it harder for CT's since it's such a useful thing to have/use when pushing

I don't think flashbangs should be removed...but maybe restricting it to only 1 per person could be interesting. I usually play dust2 and my god ...sometimes I don't see anything but a white screen for the whole round or till I die.

I think the limit reduced to 1 might be a good idea.

I personally hate flashes, so I like the idea of restricting 1 flash bang per person. However I think doing so would make the T's job harder. A typical tactic for the Terrorists is to fake one direction by flashing it and saving the second flash for the rush on your true target. Restricting the flashes would either mean A) T's loose the ability to fake out the CT's, or B) the team would have to work in perfect coordination to make sure enough people save their flash for the real rush while still using enough to fool the CT's. Anyone who plays T side regularly knows its near impossible to get more than half the team to work together at all, so in the end all your really doing is restricting the Terrorist's options. Maybe I'm wrong, but this is just my opinion.

tl;dr restricted flashes: good for CT's bad for T's

i agree it would be nice to restrict them because of the team flash issue but like mentioned before A.) it would hinder either team and when in a big fight or whatnot and B.) it would drive some pubs and regulars away because they like em like we already restrict awps and auto snipers and that prob drives some would be players away as is

i would however be for restricting smoke nades cause they serve no real purpose and cause lag for some people my theroy anyway

I stay away from all 20v20 classic game modes that allow flashbangs. I don't play the game to see a white screen 80% of the time I spend alive. I wouldn't mind it if the flashbang were a bluish color so it wasn't so hard on the eyes, but its not, so I'll stick to my 5v5 matchmaking in cs:go tyvm.

smoking a crossing point so you don't get mowed down while going to the bomb site, or smoking defensively so Ts have to run through the smoke to get mowed down, is a major purpose.

Sorry, but if you're actually going to remove an extremely useful tool as the flashbang, may as well remove it completely. 1 flashbang per team? There's just too much wrong with that.. someone's gonna misuse it or just use it to their advantage only. I agree, I don't like having to see a white screen for a measly 2.5 seconds - nobody does. But entering a different area that you know or suspect could have enemies is 100% less safer than entering after flashing. Plus, a lot of people aren't that dumb... they know to take cover or at least look away. The flashbang is very useful for both teams on almost any maps and is sometimes essential for victory.

And for some reason, 24/7 DUST2 NO AWP/AUTO/PARA/FLASH doesn't really sound very appealing.. replace the server name with any of the other servers and it's the same issue. I don't like getting killed by the P90, but I don't think that should be removed.

amen

i love flash bangs, you hate them when your gettin flashed but you love them when your doing full team rushes. i couldn't play with out the flashes. you ever tried to rush with out them? just leave it alone....... flashes rule !

You know you can turn around when you see a bright yellow object flying at your face, right?

But what happens if the bright yellow object comes from behind you? Like, you know, say a teammate?

Restricted flash bangs, no. Most people that I've played with know how to use the flash bang properly and effectively. Like the other threads related to removing/restricting something, I'll say it again: the cycle is continuous. You say something about it, someone else will say the opposite. Remove/restrict something, someone will advocate to bring it back. Unless there's a clear backing from the majority of the community (I.e. Bringing a rotation server back), you have to play with it.

And, if someone is improperly using flash bangs, to the admins and non admins, there are ways to catch purposeful team flashers as well as handle those who are unintentionally flashing due to lack of experience/knowledge of the game.

Its a good idea but everybody uses flashbangs....its like taking drugs away from a addict its probably not gonna work out lol

I think that this thread is similar to the Para thread in the way that if it is not broken, then don't fix it. Especially the Dust2 server, it stays mostly full all day and night(even in the morning...very unusual), it seems that eGO has struck a good balance with mature players and admins, as well as good settings. The flashbangs are part of the game and most players know how to use them to gain the upper hand.

I spent years running my own community, and being a high level admin on others, and what kills a server the fastest is changing the IP and/or constantly changing the settings. I saw it kill Webkillers a few years back(they had 12 full Office servers at one point).

I hate being blind and getting blown away as much as the next guy, but I also like being able to blind my opponent and killing him easily. These damn team flashers at the round start need to be banned however!!!

If i didn't have my flashbangs I wouldn't know what I would be switching to from my ak/m4 30 times per round.. my smoke? ha ha ha

I would not play on eGO servers if they didn't have flashbangs.
