Hey guys so as you may have seen, eGO has acquired Dolby's Axon division as a full term sponsor.

If you havent already, please check out the official site by clicking the Axon logo on the Right of the page or by going to this link: DOLBY AXON

Below i will post some information from the user "Dangle" as he has made a nice post over in General Forum.

===========
I am a long-time user of Dolby Axon. Considering our new sponsorship, I'd like to take the opportunity to reflect on my personal experiences with an amazing service with which many of our members may not be familiar.

Dolby Axon is a free-client and server-less VOIP system that requires no payment on the part of individuals or groups that use it to communicate. Rather than dedicated servers with IP addresses, Axon let's individual users create temporary and even Permanent Chats dynamically with people on your Friend List. If a group of friends or MMO guild wish to use Axon for their every-day comms system, one individual can set up a single Permanent Chat and name it as they wish. Every other user that wishes to have on-going access to that Permanent Chat can then make it Permanent in their own client and connect to it every time they start up Axon. Every registered user of Axon can maintain up to a maximum of five Permanent Chats on their client at any given time.

Once inside the client and connected to the Chat you have selected, you experience the kind of sound quality you would expect with the name Dolby.

Every user has a circular avatar representing them that is placed in the square grid of the Room for that Chat. Sound is fully directional, so the GUI allows for your voice to be adjusted on a 360 degree axis around your avatar. Sections of the Room can also be adjusted by Chat owners (or those they Promote) to allow for private conversations on the fly or to group together squads of people for precise coordination. Existing members of the chat can have their avatars dragged seamlessly from one section of the Room to the other. There is also a text chat at the bottom of the client which users can utilize.

I've greatly enjoyed the time I've spent in Axon and find it to be a very user-friendly yet quality-focused product. Running off of a Friend's List rather than needing to remember server addresses, IPs, ports, and passwords makes it a very simple process to get new friends downloaded, set up, and chatting.

Hope you guys enjoy this new sponsor and all that it brings to us. Make sure to thank KILLERCANKILL.

Very interesting. I like to use of the positional surround sound voip, but is it a static position you place someone for the voip? So If I place that person on the left of me. He will always sound like he is to the left of me?

Still tho very cool. My self have always been a big fan of mumble but might have to look into this more.

Yes basically you would setup your team before hand.

Here is a simple scenario that can take place:

5 Man team

1-Team Leader (Middle)
1-Medic(Right Side)
1-Support (Right Side)
2-Assault (Left Side)

This is extremely favorable so that you can differentiate more easily based upon the side that the sound is coming from.

Also, it allows for people who play with one ear off to set all their team on either side, which is popular in LAN centers.

Ah ok. At first I was thinking something completely different but reading over it and this quote cleared it up a bit more. Very cool stuff.

This sounds pretty cool. But how much resources does it use? I only ask because TS seems to speed up the Mem Leak (CPU Spikes, Frame Drops, etc.) on BF4 for me.

EDIT: And also will this become a standard for Edge players? I mean for JUST edge players ( like friends, squad, etc.).

This uses little resources, it is very lightweight. no lag in chat.

And yes this is a requirement for our competitive teams.

All right next time I get in BF4 I'll fire it up since I just installed it. Won't connect to the server her as the Wi-Fi is restricted.

Cool installed it. When I get a better Laptop I'll sign up for the competitive team. Unless BF4 gets good optimization patch that fixes the CPU spikes, etc. that is. As it stands now my craptop might leave me as a liability......except in tanks.
