omg its not hard... you take my points lets say 5,000 and say that someone that kills me has 1,000 points. Divide 5,000/1000 and you get 5 then multiply that by the weapon's modifer (each weapon differs from 1 to 3). Say they kill me w. an engineers shotgun which has a 1.5 multiplier... 5 x 1.5 = 7.5 then times everything by a base of five. So 7.5 x 5 = 37.5 points (round up). I lost 38 points cause someone w/ 1,000 points killed me when I had 5,000. If you do the math but divide 1,000 by 5,000 (aka me killing him) I only get 1.5points (round up means 2).
Its a system thats meant to keep the overall stats pretty capped. But because of whats been mentioned before... engineers can infinitely raise the point cap hence raising everyone elses average points too. Think about it... if you're a newbie to ego servers w/ 1,100 points and kill Purple Huskies (who has 34,000+) w/ a bonesaw (a 3.0 multiplier). *Cough*464points*Cough*

I think most servers who use HLStatsx use the default setting for awarding points. I believe min is 2 points and max is 50 points.
Also, you don't lose points when you suicide that gives demo/solider huge advantage when its come to gaining points. They can eliminate point loss if they are only focus is ranking up.
Also, the system recently changed to truck buildings destroyed by the engineer who built them. So if you build a sg near cp1 and later moved to cp2 you get only 5 (5-5+5=5) points instead of 10 (5+5=10) like before. I think it is a huge improvement on the stats.
Funny thing is Demoman is the top on the global hlstatsx chart, and there is only one engineer in top10. I think Demo and Soldiers are two most popular classes with in top 20 last time I checked. Just throwing something to people who think engineer is the easiest. Although, I do agree they are easier.
I agree with high ranks doesn't equal more skill because certain classes have easier time gaining points. It is not fair play ground for all the classes.
