From seeing how-to videos and playing it alot(almost 24hours whoot!) playing as a medic seem pretty damn hard to stay alive in the fray while the videos say medics are meant to run at the first sign of danger, I usually get caught up in the moment and eat explosives. While the moment you take 5hp damage run back to resupply and find someone else. When you play medic, which path do you follow?

It really depends on the situation... If there's people on the front line fighting, I stay in a corner to heal them and wait for my health. My life is just as important as the guys who're fighting. I really don't like running away when someone else is going to die cause I didn't heal them.

I trust In(e) in protecting me, he's my favorite demo/pyro!

I'm a psycho medic: I run into the fray and heal the person with 5 guys on him, and when he dies, try to take them on myself when escape is tricky. Running around shooting people with the needle gun when no allies are nearby is fun, too. Doesn't give me a very good medic score, though... I die a lot. I will run back to safety if the guy I'm healing has an obvious death wish, though. I mean as a medic I am more important alive than dead, even though I tend to ignore that fact.

To prevent stabs, I strongly suggest moving around a lot when there isn't much oncoming fire.

As for being hit by fire, if I have a target, I stay. If I have a low UberCharge% (anything under33%), I'll stay.

However, when I go medic, I can never find someone to uber when I'm fully charged. They run off in some other direction only to have me uber no one or a class that can't do much based on the situation.

Haha. That's one of the worst parts about being medic. I can remember one particular game of 2Fort where me and another medic somehow made it to their sewers alive and fully ubered. After waiting a bit for a better class, we just gave up and ubered each other to take out sentries. We didn't last very long after that, though.

Personally, for me it will depend a lot on the situation. I try to stay towards the front lines continuously healing, but usually won't make that push towards the goal until I'm ubered up. I figure I'm more useful to the team with uber anyway, so I'll not rush in too quickly and die before I get a chance to get uber. Once I'm uber, though, I generally stay with my target or targets until the end. The end of my life, that is.

I tend to find myself playing with the type of medics who get full UberCharge and when you ask them to uber you they run away as soon as you take damage, leaving you to perish before 7 enemy sentry guns. Even medics like this I tend to protect with my own life, because it's a lot easier to risk if they don't decide to randomly leave me.

If you stay behind me I will protect you.

The man doesn't lie. He has crazy rockets and I tend to stay alive if I am healing him.

if there is a lot of guys bunched up I will stay behind and heal as they cycle infront of me.... but if I have uber I usually rush in infront of the guy I am healing, taking the fire off them makes it easier for them to take things out....BUT that also means that I am the 1st to die when uber is up...but oah well

and YES!!! Keep moving... can;t tell you how many times I have been healing sombody, I am behind a wall feeling safe only to get knifed. Keep moving and at the very least when the spy misses he will reveal himself and draw fire to himself.

I stay with my my guy until he dies. I run if he dies before me, unless the other guy is low, i'll try to bonesaw.

If I'm playing as Medic, and get shot, it would depend on how much I was hurt. If I took a stray bullet from a shotgun at the other end of the map, I'm not going to run away, I'll regen the health. However, If I take a rocket to the feet, No matter how in danger you are, I'm getting health, unless I have an uber. So however, most of the time I'll stay with you.

I very rarely am medic. Something like 2 hours total, mostly because I genuinely get my team killed when I am. Don't ask how, it's a mystery.

But if I've got a medic on my back without an uber when things get hairy, I tell them to run and throw myself into the midst of the enemy to give him time to get out.

I'm trying to think of the name of the most amazing medic I ever met. He stayed on a player to keep him healed, but if the player went down, he whipped out the bonesaw and wreaked unholy havoc on the poor unsuspecting enemy team. I saw him put away more people with that thing than I had sniped or burned all that game.

I'm not that good at medic, but I will stay with who I'm healing and dance like Flippy the Squirrel to keep out of the way of incoming shots as well as back stabs. If I make it through at least 1 uber before going down, I feel I've done well, but I've gotten several before before respawning. I'd have to say it's all about (1) movement and (2) quick weapon switches so when you lose your guy, you're ready to surprise people who think you're an easy kill.

I'm usually the medic on the blue team of Dustbowl. Most of the time, I'm behind at least 3 guys so I just keep topping them off until I get uber. A pyro or demo or heavy is usually near by the time I get uber and we both run in. Usually the uber is used up and we both get killed. I generally don't run back unless lit on fire and there is no medic to heal me. I have on occasion whipped out the syringe gun and mow down a person.

Im a good medic and just dodge the stuff people shoot at me. Unless the demo or solider gets a direct hit on me I wont go down. Having an extra medic helps if I do take damage but I normally manage to keep everyone healed and kill the people that try and rush me when most of my team dies or retreats.

I actually really enjoy playing as a medic because you really do make a big difference for your team. I am a very dedicated medic and rarely leave for my own health. When I pick someone to latch on to I am with them until the end unless someone is retreating by us and is hurt bad and my guy is 3/4 health or better or a demoman seperates us with a stickie. I warn the person I am latched on to through the mic that I'm leaving them though so they don't rush into a group thinking I'm still healing them. When that person is topped off I reattach to my previous person unless they have rushed into battle without me. Even then I may come rushing in with needle gun blazing to help him out until I get close enough to switch to the healing gun and keep them alive as long as I can. Depends on the numbers they're fighting and how close to uber I am. If they die before I can get their health back up then I will fall back again with needle gun poking people's eyes out all the while. (I think if you land a needle in the heart it should be an instant kill though.) I just move around a lot and dodge what is thrown at me as long as possible to give my guy the best chance of accomplishing his goal.

You'd think that would make me a good medic, but alas, no. I find myself getting too caught up in the offensive nature of things, forgetting that medic is -- first and foremost -- a support class. They have some weapons that are good for taking out enemies in a pinch, but they're not meant to be leading the charge.

My greatest successes as medic have been when I stayed behind the front lines, searching for injured comrades and making liberal use of my healing talents. When I get uber ready, I'd then find a play (heavy, solider, or demo) who impressed me as being quick to find and execute targets, and I'd uber him.

There's no sense in ubering someone who is going to waste it, since you only have a few seconds to accomplish everything you need.

On the flip side (flippy side?) of that, as a non-medic class, there's been nothing more frustrating than to see that a medic has been healing me long enough to get from 0% to 100% on their uber, leading me to believe that we're going unleash some sadness and misery on the opposing team, only to have them bail out once I turn the corner and start taking fire.

Times like that make me wish we could team kill.
