hey guy's i managed to finally get rid of a Ads By Notification Malware i had day or two ago thou the Malwarebyes forms But i was wanting to know what anit virus, malware trojans and spyware programs are out there to help protect me and my computer from attacks in the future

i currently have Malwarebyes Anti Malware, CCleaner, Spybot Search and Destroy and Microsoft Security Essentials (my brother installed with free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate)

but for ya techies an computer geeks like my brother what is the best anti virus and for everything else that ya'll recommend?? and how do ya'll feel bout the ones i already have? i prefer the the best ones that ya'll recommend that are free are relatively cheap

Throw my 2 cents in, not sure what to recommend as far as free. I would consider biting the bullet and paying for one. I currently use Kaspersky Internet Security 2015, I have zero complaints about it. Think I paid 40 for a single use? Other reviews say some people have issues with it but I've never experienced anything wrong with it.

I also use malwarebyes (full version), I love it. It catches things all the time.
I've used CCleaner in the past, I remember it working well.
SSD is a classic and always worked well


(Curious what others inputs will be.)
 
For me, MSE seems to work well, and so does Malwarebytes. They catch stuff just like Secksai said.

They are simple to use, and work well.

I'm not tech savvy at all, so we'll see other's inputs.
 
ya and think for input guys but really would like to know from a techie that deals with servers and programs on a daily basis and deal with all these threats on a daily basis
 
I've worked for a computer repair shop for about 2-3 years and what we sold was AVG. There's a lot of arguments over which is the best antivirus out there but in my personal experiences, AVG has one of the best free antivirus software available since the full version is exactly like the free version but with just a bunch of extra bells and whistles for you. It has a very extensive library of infections it references to and is able to catch most infections you might be in danger of getting. Granted, its not perfect. No antivirus program is going to give you 100% promise of stopping everything. New things come out every day that can throw a wrench in the works. Regardless, it does a damn good job and there's always a few other programs to help you clear out your unwanted infections.

In terms of general Spyware and Malware removal programs, we used Spybot and Malwarebytes to clean the computers for the most part. Sometimes we'd get tougher infections or issues that needed specialized care, but Malwarebytes and Spybot tend to take care of most issues especially when paired with AVG.

Kami, buy Kaspersky pure 3.0 or Kaspersky internet security. Personally I use Kaspersky pure 3.0 which is an antivirus and firewall combined but remember one thing, boot time of your laptop/desktop will slow down a bit. Still with it because it gives you the best protection. Also, do not install similar software's as installing many free software's won't help you. Instead send and buy an good one... On Amazon/ebay you might get Kaspersky for 3pcs for like $25-$30..

I'm using AVG Free, I don't have the money to pay for a anti virus software, so this is the next best thing. Doesn't slow down my computer one bit.
 
Honestly the best way to protect yourself is to use better browsing habits. Not downloading or visiting sketchy sources goes a long way.
 
for your info they pack virus in programs you install and emails now a days too!!

and i know how to browse the internet safely

I used to live this way until about 5 years ago when I saw a seemingly safe website attempt to install a trojan horse on my wife's computer by visiting a simple URL.

Ever since then, I have purchased a small investment in the protection of my many computers at home. ESET NOD32 Anti-virus. I recommend it to anyone who can spend a little for some added protection.
 
another thing is that if your computer is automatically saying you got a virus do not click anything on that thing try every thing you can to no click anything on it. its a trap. best of the best thing you can do is turn off the PC and re turn it on then check for any viruses. because the virus warning is actually a link that will take you to some where you dont want to go and then it installs spy ware and other nasty viruses and in addition it also installs what would even seem and look like a lower security. completly wiping the PC clean of even having the virus protectinion in the first place. in some instances the PC will simply shut down while it tries to invade your server. and that is a big heck no so in that instance you may have to restart the server. you would also have to might erase a ton of corrupted data. some times you do not have to visit corrupted sites oon your PC if you have a flash drive make sure you have a saftey lock that does not allow you to down load any thing off the PC. because if you plucg in the flash drive it is almost like a contagon where you pass the disease to some one else however if you plan to not have this saftey feature on make sure you disconnect the server from all connections or either that try to make a secluded network so that it acts as like a box in a sterile room where the virus cannot move. or in worst cases jump. so if you take you flash drive to work school or where ever you may need data make sure that what ever the PC may have does not have a virus becuase it can really screw your PC over. I know this because I got in a lot of trouble with my uncle for not listening to what he has to say in terms of visiting non trusted or malicous web sites.

i do know this yo
my brother is a programer / developer / IT tech and 9 times out of 10 unless it's a hardware issue i can fix it with a little advice or assistance from experts

and as far as malware and viruses most of the time i can remove it myself or google root cause and how to remove and presto gone
this one i had was different i had used every program and resource to no avail to were it looked like everything was removed but had buried itself deep inside my Registry (one thing i do not fool with period)

also this malware had snuck in thou a program install either Java or Skype not sure which is why safe to do custom install every time and read before you click but even than maschevious programmers do bury there viruses and malware in programs

i only started this thread for advice on what the techies thought the best antivirus program out there that was free

Malware bytes isn't an anti virus per se, it's a program that removes leftovers or things regular anti virus doesn't find. Another thing that should be mentioned is that Malwarebytes doesn't always remove everything, it's unable to find scheduled tasks hidden deep in system 32 as well as some register keys

So while it is indeed a good proggram it would be unwise to depend entirely on it
 
The only one I use is windows defender, been using it since MS start making it and have not had a single virus since. I do frequent the pirate bay from time to time still no virus.
 
Straight to point, use Windows Security Essentials then get Malwarebytes, also if you are using Google chrome get Malwarebytes Exploits. All 100% free, have not had a virus issue for over 4 years.
