I have been very stressed for quite some time (Around 1-2 months). I would like some tips on how I can stop being so stressed and how to get rid of it. I mainly get stress from server work and College so if anyone has tips for those then I would more then happy to take your advice.

Thank you all!

Genesis' Tips For Stress Reduction
1. Start a nice conversation with a friend on Steam or Teamspeak.
2. Listen to your favorite song or band.
3. Watch a relaxing TV show or a nice movie.
4. Go out on a night on the town with some friends!
5. Go to a bar, tavern or pub and meet some new people!
6. Think of what makes you happy, and do it.

Playing an instrument is definitely my way of stress relief. If you can't do that, listening to your favorite music can work too.

I don't call it "being stressed" anymore. I just call it "existing". Sad but true... DX

If you don't have a lot of free time to sit back and relax, you gotta find some ways to reduce your stress while you're working/studying. Don't think of all the stuff you have to do tomorrow. Focus on the moment. Get that moment done, pat yourself on the back for doing it well, and then move on. Remember to breathe. Try humming or whistling if you can do it where you won't annoy anyone. Spend time outdoors in the sunshine.

this is easy lol. what I do is that I hum everything is awesome and then what I do is I dance and be goofy. I do that all the time at work. and trust me im a CNA the most stressful job on the planet. you got to dance like you dont got a care lol. be goofy. and watch peeps reactions are priceless. get a good laugh.

One of the best things I can tell you is to take something in small chunks. Never look at the big picture if that's going to stress you out. Organize your work, make goals for yourself, and reward yourself when you complete said goals. Also, be sure to take breaks, but also don't drag out whatever you're doing into a long mess.

If you can, here's what I do. I go to my local gun range, either bring, or rent a gun and ammo, and blow off steam. Trust me, it's fun and stress releiving. Not sure if you have that in the UK though. But if you do it helps!

Running and working out might help.

Outside of limiting what is CAUSING stress (which isn't always possible, since it's school, work, etc)... exercise is probably the single biggest thing.

Google it. Probably 1000000 studies done on it.

Personally, to relive my stress, I plan on winning the lotto, moving to the Caribbeans, and having pretty girls bring me frozen drinks all day long.

yea.. that would do it.

Get done whatever is bothering you first. If it is school work, try to get it done as soon as you can at the start of the day. That way you won't dread doing it all day long.

Do something for you every day. Something you love.

Don't sweat the small stuff. All storms will eventually pass.

If problems continue, go talk to your doctor. No shame in it.

XD That would do it for anyone!! If this happens to me I have to take you with me lol.

Taking time off and just play some single player games
Listen to music
Go on a Netflix binge.

Always find time throughout the day to do something that you wanna do. Like when I'm watching over the GMod server and stress is starting to build up, I'll find someone else to hop in and admin if there's problems going on and I'll take a little bit of time to do something I wanna do and just relax. Don't work yourself too hard or stress will happen and get the better of you

So much wisdom here - definitely work exercise into your day. :) When I get stressed out, even something as low-key as a walk outside goes a long way toward relieving it. Even if I have to come back in and get back to work on the thing that was stressing me out to begin with, I come back to it fresh and it doesn't seem as bad as it did before.

Also, I agree with Fun - break things into small tasks. Make a list! It's a great feeling to go down the list and check things off, and things don't seem so overwhelming if you can see your huge task getting nibbled away as you mark little bits of it off the list.

It also helps to take small frequent breaks - say "I will get this and this done, then play a little or read a book or whatnot. Then I'll get back to work and get this and this done." You actually remember things better and are more productive if you do it this way, rather than if you try to just sit for 10 hours at a time and slam through it all at once.

Good luck!!

On the plus side, as life goes on and the more stress you endure the less today's stress will seem.

When I went through my phase a year ago, I mainly went by these 5 activities to keep my destructive emotions at bay:

1. Listening to softer music, such as progressive rock or ambient

2. Spending time with friends. Doesn't matter if they are people you know online or person; just has to be people you can trust

3. Expand out into other activities. I had been reluctant to getting into historical simulators, but they have been a huge part of my recovery process.

4. Get a fresh grip on life. Read books; open yourself off. Think of what is ahead in your life and don't let the crap from the past or in the present get you down. Always think about the future.

5. If the previous four did not work or you are feeling very depressed, get yourself a counselor. Make sure it isn't someone that is stiff and cold as a rock, but instead someone you feel comfortable with and can have a conversation for hours with.
