Admin Abuse: TF2 Badlands Server

I would like to formally inform this community of the admin abuse taking place in the =(eGO)= TF2 Badlands server, by the admin named =(eGO)= DangerDan at 3:15-3:40pm EST Sunday Feb 24, 2008.

From my 20 minutes of playing on this server, I have witnessed him threatening other players with bans, kicking people that has killed him, and verbally putting down people. I am fully convinced that your administrator has overstepped his power, and is "flexing his muscles" a little too much.

In spite of this hostile attitude towards other players, my clan and community will not play, or recommend your server to any others. I sincerely hope that you look into the matter.

(I tried my best to keep this complaint civil and legit, but I expect a flame or a deletion of the thread to follow.)

Hi, Concerned player. I believe you're probably FPS Dave. We asked you to maintain server rules, but you were unwilling. We appreciate your sincere interest in our servers, and hope you'll rejoin us after your 1 week ban.

Griefing the mods is never tolerated. Saying that you feel like you're in Communist China is a form of this. Demoing *us* as mods and announcing it as a threat is another form of it.

Yes, people get threatened with getting kicked if they type profanities in chat, or shout it out over the mic. First they get warnings (typically a polite "watch the language"). If they persist, they get kicked.

I've *never* kicked anyone who has killed me. Never. I enjoy the game when there is good competition, and that includes getting my butt handed to me by a better player.

I've never put down people AFAIK.

Fun games include trash talking, and admins typically don't interfere with that unless it because too abusive or includes profanities. It's all about having fun.

Note, once you were banned (for 1 day, and not by me) there were no more people saying things like they felt like they were playing in "Communist China". And the game continued, and was lots of fun.

Lastly, if you disagree with the rules about profanity, etc. This is the right place to discuss them. Thanks for bringing it here rather than trying to complaing about it more on the servers themselves.

It's important to note that I was the kicking moderator, and I actually banned for a full week because badgering the mods is highly unacceptable. We were much more lenient than several other moderators would have been. There was every chance to go back to playing instead of complaining, but that's not what you chose to do.

Nice job on the rebuttal DangerDad and Monkeybits, we would normally pull logs for this kind of complaint but I dont think its necessary. Mr. "concerned" player wait your ban out and come back in with a better attitude, because from now on if you so much as look at any of our admins wrong you are to be banned permanently from all 15 of our servers. Please post this individuals steam id in the eGO private forums so we can put him on our watch list.

Anyone want to know how to handle an admin situation? We will be using this thread in our admin school, so take notes eG's this is how you should handle yourselves. Outstanding job guys I knew we gave you two eGO for some reason or another
