For the first time ever, I don't want to play TF2.

Don't get me wrong, this has nothing to do with eGO. The eGO community is what keeps me coming back to this bloated game. The problem is Valve.

We knew, from the very beginning, that End of the Line was in two parts. It was the short by McV and his talented team, and a new community map, weapons, and cosmetics from Valve. Who delivered? McV.

2014 has not been a good year for TF2. The game has become more bloated, and the Halloween update was so complex that it would constantly break servers. I feel like EOTL was the last straw. A pay-to-play event (does "Free to Play forever" ring any bells, Valve?), one all-class melee reskin, more winter cosmetics (like we didn't have enough), and the EOTL map being cut for being too complex.

Wait, WHAT?

So, pushing the cart in a slightly remixed procedural A/D map that is almost a carbon copy of Payload is too complicated? More complicated than "there's this guy that appears and you have to get tickets and ring a bell and when you ring the bell you'll be in go karts and collecting ducks or avoiding platforms or kicking a ball" I MEAN COME ON.

McV more than delivered on his promise with EOTL. It even surpassed Expiration Date in terms of quality. Valve dropped the ball, and dropped it hard. And even more so, there's so much damn content in this game that I get FPS drops regularly. I could set my watch by the drops. And it's not because I have a bad computer, my GPU is a GTX 970. Valve needs to step back and work on a rebalancing, de-bloating update of this game, because if this is the level of effort and content we expect from Valve now, I don't want to play.

The only reason I can think of to put any effort or money towards this update is that it will support McV. He deserves the medal of all honors for going above and beyond with his SFM masterpiece.

/end of rant

I'm just happy we're getting updates, this game is old, honestly.

I agree this game is getting very old. I also don't think they're ever going to make a Team Fortress 3 just because of how much content is in Team Fortress 2.

I agree, the SFM was good, but the fact that snowplow had been being made and two beta maps were going along well confuses me... it feels like as soon as McVee finished the SFM, Valve threw the update together in like a day...they couldn't even finish up any of the three maps to add any appeal to the update. Ever since the Robotic Boogaloo, Valve's been tossing us updates that make people empty their wallets for a small event and a crappily made melee weapon. Our most recent weapons, the Classic, the Air-Strike and the BASE Jumper are absolutely useless, and the Tide Turner overpowered. It's been a year since we've gotten a new map and Valve really just does not care.

I actually disagree about the last 3 weapons that were released. The Airstrike has become my favorite weapon. Also, I've had a ton of fun just no scoping people with the Classic. After a kill or 2 with The Airstrike, it's a very powerful weapon. As for The Classic, it's not really meant to be a serious weapon. I'm not a very serious player, I just prefer doing silly things. Which, is why I only use The Classic for no scoping.

I don't see the need to complain about it. When the updates are free. You should be thankful they've supported this since 07.

I agree. It's a game that went f2p and still receives updates. Drops make it so you don't have to buy the items that the updates bring. Are some of the items broken? Yes. Are some of the updates lackluster? Yes. It's still receiving updates since release, which is kind of nuts.

It's one of Valve's most popular games, but since Robotic Boogaloo, I haven't really been excited by the updates. I mean, Halloween 2014 was pretty cool, but it crashed nearly every server I played it on. The fact is is that Valve has added too much. The TF2 content files are the biggest files on my hard drives. They need to look at what it used and what isn't and clean out a lot of the fluff.

i honastly dont get this kind of complaint, you dont want to play a game, because they made an update that doesnt affect you unless you really care. Yes they mostly add hats, yes its a big game, but its a fun game, the core mechanics are fun a mostly balenced, it has a very large ammount of maps and gamemodes so you dont get tired of a single map/gamemode, and there are items that let you play they way you want, so you complaining about the fact that they added in cosmetics and they tried to make a new gamemode but it didnt work, is really shallow minded, and as people have said, its a free game, that has been out for 7 years and is still getting updated often, we should be thankfull that the game is still around, not complaining that they added hats

TF2 isn't the only thing Valve is working on.

They have Dota, which is currently being overhauled, and CSGO. Both of those have much larger comp scenes than TF2.

They also have Steam, which was really always a big part of Valve's focus.

Have you ever tried making a completely new weapon that people would like that wasn't overpowered in a game that already has hundreds of weapons?

that's what i was going to say, there are so many weapons that do so many things, what more can you add? at what point is the ideas for weapons too much. hats are based on really cloths or ideas for cloths, which are arguably infinite. guns and weapons can only do so much.

My only complaint, when it comes to updates that actually changed the game, are things like Conga. For instance, I am up late, looking to play and I see a eGO server with 10 or so players on it, and I join, and half of the players are doing the conga and they get pissed off when you actually play the game. What a complete waste of time.
