The Server move made gameplay too painful

My ping tripled. DOD on eGO was fun, but I'm out. This just gave me a reason to quit playing this crazy game.

To be rather frank, honest and blatantly obvious-

They moved the servers due to the lack of protection on the servers and as a result of the numerous DDOS attacks and server downtime (both TS and other division servers).

In a sense, the move and relocation of servers was to cover the rear-end of eGO from the rather humiliating downtime many servers had. And to justify the embarrassment of having to admit that server-security was not as it should be- and was left vulnerable.

So now they've moved the servers, upgraded to a decent, new and modern 'security' package/method- which has now been hammered into the community as costing more and needing more donations to eGO.

I wouldn't be surprised at some point if eGO decides to push forward a voluntary/mandatory (You know what I mean) donation from long-standing members.

Anyways, that's my view. I'm probably way off the ball, in another universe and even dimension. So I'll let this stew here for a bit, and come back when the meat had tenderised.

1. Are you sure they moved the TS server? It was going down and up all night last night.

2. That will never happen

Calling you cynical would be an understatement :P. Nobody is forcing anybody to donate

I was informed that the servers where cheaper then our old, but that is only what I have heard. Don't quote me on that. So I don't know where you are getting your information from.

I would donate. I use to be BG and donated substantially. But, fun is fun. And having my ping time tripled meant that I started getting shot by other players before I even saw them on the screen. My ping (on the west coast was always 60(ish). Last night it was hanging around 200. I love the community but I am hanging up my weapons.

How is your ping at 200 if you're on the west coast? I doubt the issue is the server location, considering you're also in-game with 60 ping right now lol

I am having similar ping issues. I live on the West coast, my ping used to be around 45-60 and now it's been averaging around 100-120.

The issue with Teamspeak we think was a couple of things that were not related to DDoS attack.

At the same time TS was being odd, we upped the slots on TF2 to 32, I think we hit a cap but we are unsure at the moment we will do more testing at later time.

At the same time, we did a 'restart' of the ts server and it is possible that the mysql db was having issues. Again, we still need to test.

As far as were the server is hosted is in Tampa, FL. - I am personally on the west coast and I have seen a ~15 increase in ping from 50-65 ish. It all depends on the routing to the server and we apologize for this inconvenience.

We don't want to see people leave and we want to accommodate as many people as possible. Currently this hosting company is working to move to Dallas TX and as soon as they do we will migrate there again. The reason for the move is we consolidate 3 boxes into one with ddos protection, whereas we had 5 boxes with no ddos protection, so to weigh the odds, which is bettter?

We know it sucks as of right now because they are not centrally located in the best geographical location, but please bear with us while we try to help our community stay afloat rather than to sink. We appreciate everyone here that is sticking with us and we hope that you change your mind.

PS. If you want to send me trace routes to the server, I can forward them to the hosting company to see if they can do anything, most likely not, but it is worth a shot.

So much mis-information in this post that I can't even call you out on any of it. We went with a new host and switched to a Linux box verse your standard server host. The host is significantly cheaper and can hold more instances on one box then the previous host. The issue appears to be in the amount of hops you have between the new host and your location. Carl I would appreciate if you could do a trace route for me.

To do one, go to your command prompt and type in tracert 74.50.111.253 and copy and paste your results for us. It will help us explain these issues to our tech team and see what they can do.

eGO will never mandate or force anyone to donate anything to the community, now will that ever change. However, we do need everyones help in donation to keep our servers going. Donations have been light in the past and has forced us to switch our boxes over not just in DOD:S but CS:S as well. So far only our Kalt and Rotation servers have been switched, the rest remain on the other host for the time being.

i'll put it like this any decision ya'll the tech and leadership team make i know ya'll make with this community's best interest at heart and i back ya'll 110%
