I had a rather interesting idea on Gravelpit last night. We were discussing scrims, and a strange thought popped into my head. I thought, "We should have a pirates v. ninjas scrim". At first I wondered who would be pirates and who would be ninjas. Then I said it out loud to myself and realized "pirate" sounded a lot like "pyro". So the pirates team would be a team of all pyros. Then I thought about what would be on the ninja team. Ninjas are fast and agile, so the scout seemed like a natural choice. So it would be a pyro vs. scout match. I asked the opinion of many people ranging from pubs to eGO ranks and everyone seemed to think it was a good idea, a good way to have some fun. Any thoughts?

If we ever choose to do this I'd be on team pirate because setting scouts on fire is fun.

How would you go with scout instead of spy? Stealthy, slipping in behind the lines, and killing enemies in a single stroke? Sounds like a Ninja to me.

And a good scout will always, always beat a good pyro.

Oh, and Ninja's OWN Pirates.

Pirates and Ninjas? Why not Car vs Bike? :P

Becuase everybody already knows that Cars would win! 8)

oh HUH UH U JUST DIDN'T GO DER UH HUH@?!?! PIRATE 4 LYPH YA SCALLYWAG LANDLUBBIN BALLERINA DANCER!

but anyway i think it should be pyros vs. spy

and another thing... DO YA TIGHT LEATHER WEARIN STAR TOSSING LADIES HAVE SWEET BEARDS!? I DUNT THINK TSO!

I agree with Lafin. I think Spy fits the definition of ninja better than Scouts. Scouts are fast, but they are not stealthy, which ninjas are so well known for. Plus, while spy's have the advantage of cloaking, pyros have the advantage of finding them easily by burning them. I think this would be a really fun scrim.

I think it's a great idea. I'll be a pyro pirate! I eat spies for breakfast and scouts for lunch! :-)

Pyro will almost always beat spies. The crummiest pyro will occasionally catch me in a tight space.

Frankly, the nature of spies really requires a diverse team makeup to be functional.

A Pyro vs. Spy scrim would basically be a giant clump of red Pyros running around trying to set each other on fire and occasionally grabbing a Spy. Also, I know that as a Pyro I can and have beaten good Scouts. Just a matter of keeping in control and not letting them get to where you can't find them.

Damned Poor Spelling HEATHEN!

TF2 was balanced Pyros vs Spies is like a truck vs a bike sometimes they win but near never

if you used spies, the pyro team would constantly be bumping into spies and just spy checking everyone, i like teh scout idea, but imo scouts are not a very good class, so maybe a combination of 2 classes? like scout and spies, vs. Pyro and demo (he does have an eyepatch after all) this is just a suggestion, if you like my idea but think another class would suit better than the demo please post :)

I think spy is the toughest class to play well. Much like the true ninjas (who, if I recall, were an assassin class, not the main line fighters that samurai were), you must be very disciplined, practice tons and be a master of stealth. Also much like the ninja, your skills deployed properly are devastating, but cornered, you die quickly.

Sounds cool. Wish I were any good at the class. =)

Ninjas win. The pirates wouldbe dead and they wouldn't even see anything.

This seems like a nifty idea, though I'm no good with spy.

Pirates have eyepatches. Demomen have eyepatches.
Ninjas are invisible. Spies are invisible.

Therefor, I call for Demomen vs. Spies.

Spies lose, due to their nature of requiring a large allied force as a distraction... but just my two cents.

as much as i love the pyro, a good scout usu has the upper hand on a good pyro, unless its in a small space.

I agree that the pyro vs spy is a BAD idea! The spy's do best match the ninja style, but the pyros will just be liteing up anything and everything all the time and will get massive kills, by mere chance at times. Especially if they stick together, it will be really hard to get any kills as a spy with out being immediatley torched after the first stab.
