I noticed in the Game Server Listings that we have an Event Server that's rarely used and a Competitive Server that I've rarely seen anyone in and then the new Jail Server, which I don't really understand and never have understood the point of in all my years of CS playing. And that's a literal sense, not a sarcastic joke. Jail doesn't make any sense to me.

Why can't we alternate the Event Server into a Causal server, if that's possible to keep activity up while actually being able to play on an eGO server in CS:GO?

Or are their just not that many players to make this feasible?
I know Ex, ZERO, and Meow play a lot of GO.
I also know I can Dropbox this, before someone comes at me with that, I just wanted to see what people thought of having a Casual server or am I a loner in this? Lol.

It's just what our CS servers have come to. Trying out servers and removing them has led to this. How long Jail lasts, no one knows. The Event server is for events so it has a reason

Jail server is being tested for now, If it doesn't work out they will try other options.

if it doesn't work out, all other options have been exhausted.

Theres been a casual server, theres been a competitive server, theres been a minigames server, theres been everything.

You know that wouldn't be the case though, if CSGO doesn't exist within eGO it's literally RIP CS Divison.

I was down when we had a casual server, but everyone who said they wanted one as well, never played in them long enough. Buffhamster, Dotphunk, and I would ask people to join and end up the last ones staying in the server. That's the problem with all our CS:GO servers. All talk, no effort. People play for like a week and then they go back to matchmaking. I would love to play on our servers, but it's a waste of time for me. I mean, I'm surely not going to be in the server if I'm the only one with two others.

It's up to us all to work together to make the push into CS:GO. I know several people don't enjoy filling servers as it can be a tedious process, but if we only play on the servers when we see 10+ players on it, the server will never get anywhere. Let's work together to keep the server filled. Invite your friends to the server, ask people in TS to join you, shoutbox, cross server chat, have leadership make announcements. Sometimes you have to go to all of these measures just to get the server started, but when pubs begin to join, they start having their friends join, and we begin to build a player base of pubs, which is vitally important for any server.

You promised cwhit that would be in there every day. Then u weren't. This post is hypocritical IMO.

The dust 2 server we had in January of 2014 was the most successful server we had. But I was the only one filling it on most days. As soon as the contest we had ended, no one would seed the server. Would spend my afternoon attempting to fill it just to see eveyone leave after an hour.

As RDK stated, we've tried many options, including a casual server. It would fill for a short amount of time in the beginning, then people gave up and went elsewhere. CS:GO got extremely popular because of that competitive aspect, and that is and always will be a huge part of GO. It's hard to start a successful and popular server this late into the game. GO has been around for a few years already. It'll take extreme dedication and probably frustration until something gets off the ground. We're starting slow with Jail right now. We won't be adding servers until we know that we can keep at least ONE stable GO server.

First of all, I was there 4-5 times a week. I'm sorry if I was busy the other days I wasn't on. I do have a college life. I have to study and go to meetings for my club. I tried my best to balance it.

Second of all, when we had that server, you wouldn't have seen me play matchmaking instead of being on that server. I can't say the same about some other people. I would invite them, but they wouldn't show up even an hour later. I would invite them again, and guess what? They're in a second matchmaking game.

Third, I never got the server I requested. Someone decided that there were too many rounds in a classic competitive match apparently and jacked up the number of rounds so that the map ended at like round 17, out of nowhere. Who would want to stay on a server where maps end weirdly. It sure wasn't what it was suppose to be.

Finally I don't know if you could recall but the maps were broken. No matter what we voted for, it was still Dust 2. It was like this for almost 2 months. A little while later, the server was deemed a failure.

You know what? Despite all that I still tried to fill the server. I was there with Dotphunk and Buffhamster. We did our best to try to get people to be interested and stay. I personally gave out over $100 of skins in attempt to fill our server. So please, tell tell me more of how I failed that server.

I don't think we should bother with casual GO servers until the Source ones die.

It's obvious no one's gonna fill really any server we get, and maybe that's just how it is. We've got popular Source servers and a cool Jail server that we're still working on and that's good enough for me personally :/ if anything, add a Source server with a map people that still play Source enjoy, like Nuke or Assault or something.

Just my opinion on the matter

Voices my thoughts completely. Jail could be considered a "test" server to really show our dedication to actually filling GO servers. I also know that many players are driven away from casual and custom game-modes due the the popularity and potential awards of competitive so this leads pubs and even some of our own kin away from supporting eGO servers (See the Gmod situation). Jail needs our support and may be the CS division's last chance to start something new and successful so we need our attention primarily focused on it for the time being until it gets to that stage.

Let's not go pointing fingers at people... If everyone in this thread worked together and helped fill whenever they can then it wouldn't be that hard to successfully keep our jail server and let it thrive. Even if you don't like jail maybe you can help Idle when you're out having your college lives etc, then when the time comes of eGO having a secure and stable CSGO server we can try two servers? and maybe that time it will be one of your favorite choices of servers. If we do less "I was the only one there at this time" etc and more "hey lets go fill the current server we have" then more will be done.. Action > words

Inaction > All

I know what it takes to try. Things are great for the first few weeks then there is diminishing returns until nothing. I honestly hope for the best but expect the worst.

GLHF.

I suppose this is enough to sate my curiosity, blame-game and all. Highly unprofessional to call someone out like that, but whatever... public admin-on-admin is always good sport.

Anyways.

I was just curious. The Jail server doesn't interest me because it gets gruelingly boring waiting around and "roleplaying" when I want to kill stuff. The competitive server I've never actually seen anyone in, when I check and the Event server I've been apart of a few of them, so I understand the point.

I appreciate the feedback and sorry for opening old wounds, folks.

Expect the worst, retrieve the worst. It's a mental game we play :P If everyone think it's going to fail then of course it will... but as a community we can still make jail succeed..

Competitive server is for the competitive team and has a password on it :P That's why it's empty since it's not for public use :)

I'm not going to receive anything. It's not mental to see that after 8 days of growth the server has done nothing by drop in ranking for the past 6 days. As a community we can do whatever we want and it still won't matter. That is something that I have stressed for the past 8 months. What we say or do doesn't matter. In the end the power that be just doesn't help certain things succeed. Now jail is a different story. The power that be has been heavily invested in jail before and it is no different now. However people just aren't capable of filling servers like in the past because of inability. It's sad really.
