All these posts about the bad times that have hit us are bringing me down, so I wanted to bring up an idea that is slightly related and not at all negative. Since reverting to 24 slot servers I have been able to bump my video settings to max and I am enjoying playing the game again with all the purdy colors and what not, along with max fps. I had forgotten the game actually had motion blur, something I had to turn off since joining eGO. After this whole deal is solved and we go back to full 32 player servers (which are roughly 200% more fun than 24) I'd like to see maybe see a single server dedicated to 24 slots running on a map rotation (or maybe a map of the week). This could come in the far future when we get more servers, but I just wanted to bring up that idea (or rehash the old idea that may have been pushed aside a while ago). Just my 2 cents, trying to see the brighter side. I apologize if this is a duped post from a few months back, as I vaguely recall the issue being discussed.

I think that having a 24 server would be a good idea anyways just to add a little more variety to the servers.

nah 32 is always gonna be my favorite.... no matter what anybody says!

The more crowded it is, the less likely I am to bump into the man whose name I'm wearing.

Stabby Doom wants 32 players!

I am all for a 24 man server. I just think it's more fun when there's not so much overcrowding (the exceptions to this include Warpath).

I love having tons of people on server, but I think we'll end up with a compromise on server types. I think that Valve's new policies are going to mean we always have some 24 man servers, so we'll all be able to play what we enjoy.

I personally love the chaotic 32 slot environment.

I like them both for different reasons. 24 player servers don't have stalemate games nearly as often (because it's possible to kill off a larger portion of the team during a big push), and allows one team or the other to actually win a match.

On exactly the opposite, 32 player servers have stalemate games which can really force you to work together with your team, and can significantly increase your skill because you're not playing only for yourself.

I'll always only play on 32 player servers. It's just much more intense and exciting.

True...32 is good, but we should be happy with what we have guys. I mean we have a ton of servers for tf2 and at least we have 24 slots ^^ Yeah I know 32 was amazing but still...we should look on the birght side of things so we don't bring ourselves into an uncurable depression that will prevent us from running away from the mutant ninja zombies ^^

I agree with most of you. I feel that our 32 player servers offered greater teamwork opportunities, and recently I've been noticing a lot of frequent players complaining that their team doesn't know what they're doing when a quick loss is experienced with only 24 players. 32 players seems like the optimum number for several reasons, one of those being that it's easier to organize a team when there is a larger selection or interested players. 24 player servers run into the problem of just 2-4 players who like to fool around and not pay too much attention to the objectives, which I feel is perfectly fine if you like to wander around as a pryo (for instance) and get a couple good ambushes for personal entertainment. I don't mind if everyone has their own style of play, but 32 slot servers open up the game to a much more competitive and organized arena. I wasn't at the meeting, and I'll check the recording, so I just wanted to bring up the idea of running a server or two with just 24 players for that up close and personal deathmatch feel. 32 slots upgrades the gameplay to a more cohesive skirmish for the times when you want to test your mettle against a solid defense or offense. A 24 slot rotating server would be nice for a quick brawl with a guaranteed one-sided finish to mix up the crowded feel of 16v16, but I would definitely stick to the latter for the most part.
