Update 3/8/15 12:00 PM: Website Maintenance complete. A huge thank you goes out to GamingRobot, Oey, and GardenGrove for their work on the website this morning.

While you guys have been busy filling servers, making jokes, and bashing heads in with various blunt objects, the Tech Team has been hard at work consolidating servers, tweaking knobs, and trying not to forget to feed the hamsters. While the Tech guys have managed to do a lot of this without disrupting things too much, they have a big move to complete that requires some downtime.

This upcoming Sunday, March 8, the Tech Team will be performing maintenance on the website during a 5-hour window from 7 AM - 12 PM Eastern. The forums will be completely inaccessible until maintenance has been completed, but DAPS and MAUL should only experience brief outages. All game servers should remain unaffected by this maintenance, so we will be counting on you to keep them punk-free while you take a brief respite from the forums.

FAQ

Q: Will I have admin in the servers if MAUL is offline?
A: Only if you have previously joined the server since the launch of MAUL 2

Q: What happens to my bans if MAUL is offline?
A: They should be put into MAUL once it comes back online, but you should double check to make sure.

Q: Can I donate my hamster to the cause to reduce the maintenance window time?
A: Our hamsters must be specially trained before being allowed to run the servers. Sadly there is not enough time to train your hamster before the maintenance.

Also Garden, from my view it seems our leadership are left in the dark as much as we are so that's why it may seem that we're overly curious about the changes we want to MAUL 2 since a lot of people have these questions and not many people have the answers Thanks for actually replying.

Sorry Garden I did think of putting it in the dropbox but you did ask me to elaborate so I did so. My apologies, By no means am I ungrateful for the hard work put towards the system what so ever. Clearly my DL's know about it as I spoke to them, but I was told of no resolution or plans to resolve the problem(s).

But yes, those items you mentioned are on the honey do list for edgegamers. We all wish this was a paying job because things would obviously get done a lot quicker.

I am going to collaborate with the tech team and see if we can publish a list of things so maybe that will help with all the questions in regards to what is going to get fixed first.

My apologies on my earlier post as well. Exoh's post quoted above pretty much explains what I was going to say - I posted something out of curiosity, and completely spaced-out on just how much the Tech Team does.

I do appreciate the work and effort you guys put into everything though - as well as answering the masses of questions I've had or looking into the ad-related dropbox posts I've made.

One thing would to not use the LONG version of source ID's and actually use the proper Steam ID's. I've had cases as an admin where I want to search a players steam ID on our site using MAUL, but that is not possible, or if it is I do not know how

This is due to the fact that valve is working to deprecate the STEAM_ format, and use the new STEAMID3 format but we chose to use the STEAMID64 format to avoid this issue.

STEAM_0:0:20415142, [U:1:40830284], and 76561198001096012 are all the same steamid
CS and DOD use the first format, TF2 uses the second format, and steamcommunity.com and MAUL use the third one.

Also under MAUL 2 the DS Settings dont seem to change anything to do with CS.

Under development, MC was fixed last night.

Some have told me that "why fix something that wasn't broken".

MAULv1 did not have the ability to support multiple games outside of source(TF2,CSS,CSGO,DOD) it was also tied tightly into VB3 and we wanted it to have a looser connection to the forums so forum upgrades do not break the admin system.

You can easily convert between the various Steam ID formats via sites like http://steamidconverter.com

This I was also curious about since before the 'Find User' button under eGO Tools could be used with either their name, Maul ID, or SteamID, and now it's just their gameID or name.

You can search by Username or Forum ID from the Users page and you can search by Game ID (Steam ID) or Username from the GameIDs page

Maul IDs don't exist any more. They were replaced by Forum IDs because there was no need to give every user two distinct IDs



We do appreciate the feedback and realize that we have a lot of work ahead of us. Hopefully we don't die of old age before we get it all done?

No offense but if you'd like to cover the cost of our servers, then by all means will we take them down. We do what we need to do to support all of these game services for members while not having to beg for money each month like some communities do.
