Counter-Strike: Source The Status of CS:S Office

I'm not sure about that. Last rotation server we had, regardless of it being cs:s or cs:go, failed miserably and couldn't gain much attention. I think it's better just to focus on the 24/7 Office server and Jail once we officially stabilize Office's position.

I disagree. While I understand the wish to keep our CS:S Office, I do not recognize the effort put into a dying game. I say this with the utmost respect because I, like many others, grew up on our CS:S servers.

Counter-Strike: Source:
Peak today: 16.371
Current players: 3,009.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive:
Peak today: 494,463
Current players: 81,142

Based on those numbers alone, it shows where I personally feel our division should make haste towards. Building a successful CS:GO server that has its own player base to thrive and sustain. Even if you do not like Jail, I understand. Jail is very complex and we don't want sissies in the dog house.[Just kidding, join us anyways!] Please help us fill this server. Once we prove ourselves, we can start to get into other modes of CS:GO.

I can see your point and I very much do enjoy Jail. However, despite possibly being caused by nostalgia, I have the desire to see our remaining cs:s servers strong and able until the very end. I also wish to expand in CS:GO, but the main issue with that game is that most people I've seen play it for comp and comp only. I have planned ahead that in the case that our efforts in Source are truly in vain, I will edit the plan into supporting Jail.

What were the reasons for its failure?

The average player may not want to play jail. Jail is a game where power is given to a few and the others have to follow rules. Many people just like to play the game, not be bossed around by a warden. You have to take this into consideration.

If you want people to join you have to be incluseive. Jail excludes people to being in a JAIL. Not everyone gets a turn to be CT. It tends to be the guys with the training doing the wardin job or the "higher ups". I have seen cases where this is not the case but it is not conductive to an overall "fun" experience. I like jail, its fun, but most of the time i play go for the comp matches or casual with other clan members. Doing this is where i find the most fun in the game.

Why fill a dieing game. Honestly in a few years CSS will be dead, what is gonna happen to this division when this happens. Lel

We've had like 10 different casual servers...

What? You left CS division for MC. Look at the statistics for player traffic in CSS and CS:GO every day and you'll see CSS only maxes around 20k people a day while CS:GO gets around 250k-300k+ a day.

However, there is the news of the source 2 engine. We'll see how that goes.

I'm curious to hear what impact the Source 2 engine will have. Does this mean a CS:S2 is going to come out? Who knows. I think valve would be silly to do anything CS related to compete with CS:GO as it took a couple years for it to get traction and get really popular.

RIP Kami
RIP CS:S (1.6 has more players than Source)

If you hate CS:GO, so be it. I'd ask when the last time you actually played it and how much time you gave it? The game has changed a lot in the past 2 years.

I would want to see a new, casual CS. Playing competitive in GO is fun but playing casually with friends, joking, laughing, and having a good time is far better.

I think reworking things in CS:S would help re-spark that dying fire

I guess ill enter the kitchen and chime in, I wonder though is that number including all those people that play competitive? If so I don't think it would make sense to use it in analyzing.

CS:S has Dust2 Ranked at 5th on GT. I dont think CSS is going anywhere anytime soon.

First off, let me say that I honestly don't think that CS:S is going anywhere at any point in the near future. I've played CS:GO and I just can't get over the feel of it. It doesn't "feel" like Counter-Strike. It feels more like TF2, which I don't like. (Also don't like the new hitboxes lol)

Secondly, I try to play on office, dust2, and italy whenever I can. I would be very disappointed if the office server shutdown :( office and dust2 are by far my two favorite maps in CS:S. Sometimes I get tired of playing on dust2 so I'll go to italy or office but I at least try to play all three at some point during the day.

I'm with you though; just let me know when. I'll get in there and help populate the server

And this is why I pretty much only lurk the forums every now and then. This division refuses to move on. I've been saying for over a year now that we need to move out of CS:S and into CS:GO and frankly I got tired of saying it.

Lets talk about CS:S. The CS:S Dust2 server is only #5 because there is just a lack of other Dust2 populated servers (or servers in general) in CS:S (in the US). Beyond that, CS:S is dead. There is no ifs or buts, there is no more new players moving into CS:S. Everyone is moving into CS:GO. Look at the numbers people. This is why many of the people I've met originally here, have moved on. This isn't the same division I joined 2 years ago. Everything has changed; I have changed as well. If this division isn't going to adapt and evolve, I guess it's my turn to move on as well.

This isn't a goodbye post. I'll still be lurking the forums every now and then (just to see if anything really changes), but if not, I wish you guys (and this division) luck. Feel free to ask me if you need help on something though. You know my steam name.
