Like the title says AMD or Intel and post why!!

I prefer Intel because it is rock solid, is on top of the newest tech, and the latest processors are way overclockable.

In my experience AMD chipsets run faster both stock and overclocked, but Intel chips are far more stable and tolerant of temperature spikes. I'll take stability over speed any day. I've got my 2.4 D2 pumped up to 3.0 on air cooling and not the slightest hiccup. Makes me wonder what I could get out of it with a good water cooling system.

intel because my dad works there

free processors baby! (intel core 2 duo ee)

plus intel is a good year ahead of amd when it comes to technology

Currently the best performance is going to intel, and it doesn't look like that will change for a while, so I'm using intel. I have a Core 2 Quad overclocked to 3.005GHz.

Back when I worked at Gateway, we were an all-Intel company. In an effort to cut costs, we went with some AMD machines for a while, and those things failed left and right. It could have been the motherboards or other components, and I'm not convinced that the chip was to blame, but it left such a bad taste in my mouth (in addition to how rock-solid Intel is) that I've never purchased AMD.

That having been said, I'm not terribly picky. If it works and helps me to achieve purdy graphics, then I don't care.

I currently have an AMD 3800+ dual core processor. It really doesn't matter to me, I just bought the AMD because it cost less at the time.
My next upgrade will probably be an Intel quad core.

Intel, Clock for clock performance, and overclockablility.. if you're into that. My Intel Quad Core is clocked from 2.4ghz(stock) to 3.4ghz 24/7 Operation.

Anything before the core2 series.. AMD is faster and cooler

intel is more reliable and doesn't except for the one processor that i can;t remember

I'm an AMD fanboy, more or less because I'm also an ATi fanboy. Usually AMD is cheaper and that's what a 16-year-old looks for in a computer. My first build ever was Intel, and that processor/motherboard combination is still in use by my brother. Intel is much more advanced than AMD at the moment (even though it's a little difficult to get your hands on one of Intel's 45nm), but the price is too steep for a kid like myself. My next build will most likely be AMD triple-core simply because the price is right up my alley. All in all they're both great companies, but AMD has lost its way over the last few years. The only thing that really keeps AMD going is the price, imho.

Intel really has AMD beat down right now. Intels CPUs are very advanced, fast, cool, overclockable, and relatively cheap. Price/performance Intel usually wins.

Granted, but I bought my quad when I was 18 off a 5 month full time summer job. My brother has an AMD and it can't beat my quads perfomance

I currently have an AMD X2 5600+ (Dual core, for those who may not know.) Which has been serving me quite well over the past eight months or so.

I don't really care either way, but at the time the AMD was a much better deal, so that is what I went with.

I like both and I've never had a problem with them but I prefer AMD. Nobody said this here, but it annoys me when people say stuff like "AMD is for poor people". That's not true. It's all about personal preference.

Intel at the moment it a lot better so ill go with them.considering i just built my first intel machine i can say im very pleased with the core 2 duo e6750. one problem i had with AMD was that when i used to play WoW my computer would just randomly restart itself while i was playing. This happened on 2 differant amd machines that both exceded the minimum requirements. I played WoW on my new intel computer and never had it restart on me in mid game. Intel procs run a lot faster and are definately more powerful at the moment but i do have to give AMD the credit for making a true quad core proc.

I have to go with AMD. Intel came out with some new processors last year. They weren't as good as the new AMD processors that came out this year. AMD came out with true quad core cpus. Even though i have a Q6600 and am very happy with it, i owe it to AMD for releasing some new and fantastic processors.

im going with intel because my brother(who is a computer wizard) likes it better and he could probably think of a jillian ways why its better !lol

now that i know what AMD is...i go with it... i build most of my PC's with it! great stuff
