So you were wondering how I do the rocket trick.

Requires to have Auto-Redeploy and Auto-Reload after clip is empty checked.

Simply never undeploy your rocket. Works far better with the allied Bazooka.

Also enjoy my atrocious resolution. Apologies for the twitching, I find it very hard to stay still.

Im gonna try and mimic this...and go 3-60. I fail at rocket =(

Gonna need to practice this to get the achievement for rocket. Is there any good way to be a sniper class? I practice on and off on it and im on a server that is like sniper maps. just not as good as those guys are though.

Quick-switching will be key here.

1. Have your secondary ready for quickswitch (by selecting it first and then switch over to rifle)

2. Prior to scoping in, point the center of your screen (where you think the crosshair would be) at your target

3. Scope in prior to stopping or else you're an easy target for anyone to pick off before you can get your shot off

4. Fire. Whether you hit or miss, press q twice, which will cycle to secondary back to primary which will be faster than letting the bolt slide back and forward again.

Other notes: Try firing through corners prior to fully seeing the target. For example, rather than exposing yourself fully to an MG, adjust your position until you see their arm stick out and you know that they are behind the corner, fire through the corner (you will do less damage but it may be enough to get a kill or even hs).

5. Some people will always be faster than you at some point [beer, lark, tip...the list goes on] but keep trying!

Cheers

Thanks for that info Shifty. Was wondering what the trick was to getting off those shots so fast.

crom another thing to keep in mind too is the other person's ping, comp, and what type of hard drive they are using. If you're using an HDD and they have a SSD, they will pretty much have you every time.

Wow! That is quite a compliment, Shifty, thanks! I do not consider myself on the same level as those other hackers...cough, I mean players. They are much younger and quicker than myself.

I would also add, in case you are uncomfortable with quickswitching... I find that the way I do it is just as fast, after much practice, and I am able to move both left and right, without having to have a finger on Q.

First, in console, cl_autorezoom 0

That turns off the scope automatically trying to come back up after you fire a shot and your player is bolting another round.

Second, practice against a wall. Pick a stationary target. As fast as you can, try to scope in on that target, by having it more or less centered in your screen (the less time you are in scope, the better your chance for survival) Right click to bring your scope up and shoot. As SOON as you hear the shot fire, right click again immediately. This forces your scope back down. During all of this, you can have both fingers on your movement keys to go any direction you need. Then practice by moving back and forth. Pull your scope, shoot, unscope and then move.

Shifty had good advice about focusing on those corners. Some other snipers and riflemen and MG's will be peeking those same corners, so if you are already looking at them, your chances are better.

I always dance around like crazy. This serves 2 purposes... it keeps me from being stationary for someone to just shoot dead, and secondly, while I am moving, I am using that time to center my target on my screen. Then when you scope in, you have very little movement to get to your target. Again, the less time you spend scoped in, the better.

I have over 7,000 hours in the game, and most of them have been with a sniper rifle in my hand. I could never get used to quick switching, and to be honest, havent felt the need to. The way I do it is almost just as fast. We are talking a millisecond's difference. But whatever feels the most comfortable to you, just practice it. A lot. That is the best way to get better.

Hope this also helps.
