Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Welcome the R8 Revolver to CS:GO

Valve might be putting the R8 out to distract us from all the gun accuracy changes...

RIP Desert Eagles, it's the Revolver Era

Not really, the gun sure is OP but I can still rekt scrubs with juan deags when they still try to spam their little gun.

NOOO SQUIRTLE!

(come over to TF2. We have hats.)

You still have revolvers too, whats the point of running from one to encounter another one?

I won't play comp for sure until all the scrublords using the revolver 24/7 in MM stop or until the gun is nerfed, I don't mind it but can get obnoxious, as for the rifle "nerfs" I really don't know what the fuss is all about I can spray and tap normally, just a few miss shots but other than that.

It's the awp for people who don't want to take the time to scope and can't noscope...it's too OP and ruins comp matches. If I wanted to one-shot everyone without using skill, I'd hack. That's about what I equate it to. I want to get better and have fun competing based on skill, not weapon choice....

glhf w/o me.

So, I haven't been able to test this for myself, but one of my friends who was playing told me the update made a ne wglitch let's call it. He said that if you throw a smoke and tab out, then tab back in, your smoke dissapears for you. Anyone verify this?

that exploit, along with some of the revolver bugs, was patched yesterday.

and whoever is overwatching player.. like I was given the privilege to do so..... the smoke glitch is a vision assistance.. and will get you banned..

However.. that R8 gave to the game a bigger challenge.. I can't decide If i like it or not yet lol..

Players now play with the R8 as their primary.. and use their m4/AK/other guns as their secondary guns.. which is the sad part..

I don't think I have ever been this angry at a company since the PAYDAY 2 Crimefest. Just...no. This is unacceptable.

This revolver should never have made it into production. In a game that's all about tactics and controlling your gun movements, a gun with this high damage and accuracy is a slap in the face. That'd be bad enough, but then they made spray patterns worse for the rifles and pretty much every other gun. People don't play this gun because it's OP, they play it because it's the only one that can hit ANYTHING.

I honestly don't think Valve plays this game. They don't even open a public beta to test this malarkey. Even TF2 changes can be beta tested to a certain extent. Thinking about this and the fact that the "tether gun" was a possibility just makes my blood boil. Is Valve determined to run this game into the ground?

I'd ask what they were thinking, but I think even the most educated guesses wouldn't even come close to a satisfactory answer. The fact that there's been no statement or otherwise any word from the CS devs just shows how out-of-touch Valve is with their CS community.

In order to correctly criticize Valve and their decisions with the game, I think the update should be looked at from the POV of Valve.

I believe that Valve intentionally makes new weapons overpowered in order to encourage the community to play with the weapon so that everyone will use it and learn how to do so correctly. By the community using it often, it will also generate a general play style of the gun and how it should/shouldn't be used. Another example of this would be the CZ. After it first came out it was overpowered, though not to the degree of the R8, and valve made changes to the weapon based on how they and the community decided it should and shouldn't be used. There is no doubt in my mind that Valve will nerf and update the R8 to accommodate for the playstyle that the community adopts for it.

Valve raised the accuracy reset timer on the M4A4, M4A1-S, and AK47. This means that every shot after the first of a cycle is slightly more inaccurate. This is a slight taste of Valve listening the the community, as there have always been complaints of tapping not being a viable option in most duels. A reason they may have achieved this by ultimately making these rifles worse is so that it will introduce more variety in which weapons are purchased (meaning the AUG and SG553) in competitive matches. Valve has always been shooting for every gun to be purchased a fair amount in CS:GO. While this patch may not be favorable to the community, I would assume that they may move towards their goal with it.

Lastly, and probably most importantly is that Valve does not want this game to die like earlier iterations of Counter-Strike. Look at 1.6 and Source. Once they were updated to a state that was optimal for player's competitive needs, there were no more patches. This later led to the games dying out (with the assistance of the community splitting between 1.6 and Source) and having a much smaller competitive scene. Valve wants to continuously introduce new things to CS:GO so that it continue to be interesting, and will be around for as long as possible, which will obviously lead to updates that the community dislikes at first.

There is no doubt in my mind that Valve plays their own game, and only has good intentions for the future of it. I like to think that they are extremely dedicated to the game's well being, no matter what anyone says. This game has a lot of potential to be the #1 competitive game in the world if they play their cards correctly, and I doubt they would just throw that away.

Volvo nerfed the damage from 115 to 86. They also decreased the armor pen from deagle to awp levels.

The armor pen wasn't changed, as it was the same as the deagle when they added it, even if the buy menu said differently. The same thing happened as when they had tried to reduce the armor pen on the m4a1s. It inherited the value from the m4a4 and ignored the change. So the r8 was always at ~93% armor pen.
