Bad Company 2 Server dumping players

Several times in the past two hours a full server has been reduced to 7, 13 players. Some come back but overall it's no fun to get a black screen and be out of the action.

Me and several others have been having a lot of trouble with the servers for like the past 6 months. Ive had an issue with the first game will be fine, but when it restarts my ping is off the charts and its so choppy its like gaming in 1997 again. I know its not my machine as when I go to my other games they play fine. Will this update correct that? I know others who cant play anymore because they have to totally reload the game to do so.
