Live Stream of Battlefield history:

It seems that they are going to talk about the history of the franchise from earliest title to Latest title. From the screenshot, it includes:

Battlefield 1942
Battlefield 2
Battlefield Bad Company
Battlefield 3
Battlefield Hardline
Battlefield 4

Microsoft apparently leaked the cover by accident. As much as I hate to say it, it looks like it's going to be WWI :(

There's a whole article on OCN about the cover.

The guy is holding a c96 Mauser(pistol), a trench club of sorts, what looked like a scoped rifle and a trench gun(shotty)

I have read speculation that it could be a time lapse sort of thing, where you will play maps throughout different time periods...after all why would they do the whole "history of Battlefield" thing?

Also, this date was the day that the Hindenburg crashed, notice the Zeppelin in the background.

Honestly, I think that would be sick!

Battlefield Empire Earth

i think this will be a blast to play. cant be worse than hardline

Based on the live stream, I am 90% sure that this Battlefield will be set during the Great War, more commonly known as World War 1. This being said, it could easily cover both World Wars

Recently I just had a conversation with a few of my sources and I was informed that only the Recon / Sniper class would be using the bolt action rifles in the game.

I am taking this with a course grain of salt as bolt action rifles were standard issue throughout the war as semi-automatic and automatic weaponry was still not common place.

The information following is what I was provided, take it with a course grain of salt.

There will be 4 classes in Battlefield 1. Assault, Medic, Support, and Recon.

The assault class will have access to close combat weaponry like sub-machine guns, trench guns (shotguns), and anti-tank grenades.

The medic class will have access to semi-automatic rifles and can heal and revive players

The support class will have access to light machine guns (what?), provide ammunition to allies and repair vehicles (okay...have the freaking pilots do that)

The recon class will have access to bolt action rifles with side mounted optics

There is dynamite that you can detonate with a plunger style detonator (okay so what class uses them?)

*cringe*

EA is stubbornly continuing to use microtransactions for content such as maps

Weapons seen in Pre-Alpha Multiplayer Footage and Trailers:

Primary Weapons:
Support Class ('Light' Machine Guns)
> Lewis Gun [US/UK]
> M1909 Ben?t?Merci? [France]
> Madsen MG [Denmark]

Medic Class (Semi-automatic Rifles)
> M1908 Mondragon [Mexico]
> Winchester Model 1907 [US]
> Cei-Rigotti [Italy]

Assault Class (Shotguns/Submachine Guns)
> Remington Model 10 [US] (Shotgun)
> MP 18 [Germany]
> Beretta Model 1918 [Italy]

Scout Class (Bolt Action Rifles)
> Winchester Model 1895 [US] {Seen in game as Russian 1895}
> Mauser Gewehr 98 [Germany]
> Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III [UK] {Seen in game as SMLE Mk III}

While I cannot find much information on the available sidearms, I can say that with the available weaponry, I would not make it a stretch to see the following:
> Colt M1911 [US]
> Webly & Scott Mk VI [UK]
> Luger [Germany]

Each weapon seen in the pre-alpha multiplayer live stream/demonstration had two variants, each catering to either close range or mid-long range combat.

Vehicles:

Tanks: Near as I have seen, most tanks will require numerous crew members to maximize their effectiveness. Crew sizes range anywhere from three to five.

For ammunition I have seen high explosive shells for general purpose combat and grape shot / canister for anti-infantry work.

During the multiplayer demonstration, I saw the following tanks

French Renault FT-17 Light Tank
British Mk IV and Mk V
German A7V

From recent press releases and interviews with DICE developers and managers there is a very large amount of content that hasn't been seen yet as well as DLC content.

With the launch of the full game in October, we can expect to see 6 playable factions/nations. For certain we will likely see Germany, Russia, France, Great Britain, and the United States in the initial release.

It was hinted that other nations might be added via DLC content. Some other players in the Great War include Japan, Canada, Italy, China, the Ottoman Empire, Poland, and Austria Hungary. While I doubt we will see every player in WW1 in Battlefield 1, I hope that we see some of these nations added into the game.
