Did this occur after tabbing out and then back in?

My understanding of this error is that the system was unable to allocate memory for the graphics. Though, I'll admit, I've not seen it myself.

i didn't alt-tab and my video card drivers are up to date for the manufacturer's standard

Paged Pool Memory

The direct cause of this error is not having enough paged pool memory free for the game engine.

Do Not Alt-Tab While In-game

The 'Failed to lock index buffer' error may also occur when you Alt+Tab to switch between windows while playing a game and your machine is unable to allocate sufficient memory to render graphics when you switch back to your game window.

The best solution for this behavior is to properly exit the game to return to your desktop so you may work with other applications.


ATI Video Card Users

This issue may also be related to an outdated driver for your video card. To address this issue, it is recommended that you uninstall your current Catalyst drivers, then install the latest drivers.

1. Download the ATI Catalyst Uninstaller
2. Install the Latest ATI Catalyst Drivers

I've not been able to alt-tab either without causing crashes. I also had the paged pool memory issue....and ended up shutting down my AntiVirus while I was playing since it just creates a huge page file plus utilizes tons of ram. Even when you exit the program, half the time you need to manually cancel the processes in the background as well.

Gamerail makes my game worse.. lowers the ping but my character is harder to kill other ppl
