How To Recruit​

The first step to recruitment is finding a good player on one of our servers to recruit. The main thing we are looking for in this player is respect.

This means they have respect for everything; our servers, our rules, our players, and our admins. If they respect all of the above, then they most likely are friendly, rule abiding players that would be a perfect fit in our community.

Once you find this perfect recruit, the next step is to add them on steam. To do this on CS:GO, you simply right click their name on the score board, and hit Community Profile. Then hit the link that says "Add Friend" in the upper right hand corner of their profile.

It helps to already know the player before you get to this point. It helps make the situation go a whole lot smoother, as the player is much more likely to accept someone who is already someone they consider a friend on the servers.

Once they have accepted you on steam, feel free to send them a message and ask them how they're doing. Be friendly with them, and try to start some sort of conversation. We don't want people thinking that you are only adding them for the sole purpose of raising your recruitment numbers, because you shouldn't be. Recruitment should be done for the benefit of the community, and we shouldn't be recruiting loads of people just to increase numbers. We want people who will be a positive addition to our community. Talking to them on steam shows them that you look at them as a friend, someone friendly and nice on our servers that you think would be great for EdgeGamers.

After talking to them for a little while, its time to pop "The Question." Ask your potential recruit if they would like to join EdgeGamers. A great way to do this is something along the lines of: "Hey Tom, you seem like a really cool guy and a lot of people in EdgeGamers think your awesome, have you ever thought about joining our community? If they say yes, then you're on the right track. If they say no however, then its important to let them know about all the great things we do in EdgeGamers. Tell them about our team speak, tell them about our events we have almost every day of the week, and tell them about different tournaments/programs that we offer in EdgeGamers, that thought would be able to participate in if they were to join EdgeGamers. If they still say they are not interested, let it go. We don't want to harass our players if they don't want to join. Just politely let them know that if they ever change their mind they are more than welcome to ask you for assistance and that you would be happy to walk them through the process in the future. If they do say that are interested in joining, you are ready to start the next step.

The Recruitment Process​

Before starting the first step. It is important to know if your recruit is at least 13 years old. If they are not, they must fill out a COPPA Form. More instructions can be found here: http://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=296296

Step 1: After your recruit has told you they are interested in joining, you need to get them signed up on the forums. You are going to want to send them this link: http://www.edge-gamers.com/join/ It looks like this:

Tell them that they need to hit the blue link that says Forum Registration. After the new page loads, they must fill out the questions it asks. The web page looks like this:

Its important to let them know that their forum name MUST be the same as their in-game name for CS:GO. If they differ, their application will be suspended until the problem is fixed. After they have finished this step, you can walk them through the next step.

Step 2: It is time to walk the player through MAUL verification. This is a simple process, that shouldn't take longer than a minute or so. They must click the blue link on the original webpage that they went to for their forum registration that says "MAUL Registration." This will open up a new page for them. It will look like this:

Once the page is open, they must hit the Green link that says "Sign in Through Steam." After they hit this, the official steam web page will open up and they will be prompted to sign into their steam account. After they do this, they are ready for the final step.

Step 3: The final step of the recruitment process is the application to join. To get to this page, the player must go to the first link sent, the same they went to for the previous two steps, and hit the bottom link that says "Source Games." This is found below the bold text that says "Application to Join." This will open up a new web page for the player. The web page looks like this:

The player must then fill out this application. At this point in time, you may let the player know that they can put your name down on the application when it asks who recommended them. This will help us track your recruits and your progress over time.

At this point, let the recruit know that PSC will get to their application as soon as they can, and once accepted they may apply the =(e)= tag to their name.

That's it for the actual process of recruitment, but your job is not quite over yet. Once your recruit is accepted, you move onto the Retainment phase. Retainment is one of the most important aspects of recruiting and doesn't take too much work. If you haven't done so earlier, Let your recruit know about our team speak, let them know about all the events we have, and all future tournaments coming up so they can participate. In the future, invite your recruit to community events we have, and invite them to join team speak to talk with you. These are all ways that we can help retain our recruits. If a recruit is unable to be retained, it is not the end of the world, but we want to make an honest effort to keep our recruits within our community. The more friends we have in here, the better.

Hey CS, I wanted to take the time to let you all know about some great ways you can get involved and noticed in eGO through our Server Filling/Recruitment programs.

Recruitment

Recruitment has always been an essential factor to the success of EdgeGamers. In the CS division, if not eGO as a whole, quality over quantity is very important. Making new friends is always fun, and by bringing another gamer into our division, it gives us the chance to not only grow as a community, but to expand our massive circle of friends. Having more members in our servers improves server ranks, and the overall experience everyone has when browsing forums, talking in TeamSpeak, and playing eGO CS servers.

There are also a wide variety of achievements and awards for active Recruiters in the CS division!

CS Recruitment - Awarded to active recruiters in the CS division, not based on success, but rather the consistency and dedication towards recruitment.

CS Recruiter of the Month - A prestigious achievement awarded to the most successful recruiter of the month. Members must obtain at least 10 recruits in the month to qualify.

CS Bro - Awarded to members who help new recruits and introduce them to TeamSpeak, forums, and servers. (Do not need to be in NME to obtain)

Recruiting Medal - Awarded for being an ongoing recruiter, dedicated to bringing members into EdgeGamers.

Advanced Recruiter Medal - Awarded to those who go above and beyond what is expected of recruiters, and have proven their dedication to the mastery of recruitment.

Recruiter of the Month - Awarded for being the single greatest recruiter within any given month.

Recruitment Coordinator Medal - Awarded to dedicated members of the CS RC program, who dedicate their time to improving recruitment throughout the CS division.​

Recruitment Drives take place every Tuesday at 8 PM EST. Be sure to join the eGO CS Recruiters Steam Group to receive announcements regarding Recruitment Drives, and other interesting recruitment tips!

Server Filling

Server Filling is one of the most fulfilling and important tasks in EdgeGamers. Server Filling goes hand in hand with recruiting, and must take place before recruitment can even begin! Having active players in our servers throughout the day helps improve server rankings which in turn brings in more pubs to enjoy what we have to offer. Every time a player returns to our server, it's a huge success. It means that they had a fun experience in our servers and chose to come back to continue having great times! Without full servers, EdgeGamers wouldn't be the community it is today, so remember to invite your friends to a server that might not be doing so well in an attempt to bring life to the server!

EdgeGamers also has a wide variety of available achievements that can be awarded to members who are dedicated to filling servers:

Early Morning Server Supporter - Awarded to those who fill/idle a server in the early hours of the morning.

Server Supporter - Awarded to members who support our servers by getting them filled.

Late Night Server Supporter - Awarded to our night owls who support eGO servers when the moon is present.

CS Specialist - Awarded to CS members who dedicate their time to filling a certain server.

CS Server Filling Champion - A prestigious achievement warded to members who have already received the CS Specialist achievement, and continue to dedicate their time to filling CS servers.

Titan of CS Award - Awarded to members who have shown long-time love towards CS within eGO.​

Special Server Events take place every Saturday at 9 PM EST. If we beat the challenge announced at the beginning of the crusade, a special game/skin/credits will be given out. Also ensure that you join the eGO CS Steam Group to receive announcements regarding the Crusades, and to know when people are filling servers!
