After the army and the ambulance service my life was just mundane but I will give a quick run down on what I did.
I moved up to Stevenage in Hertfordshire, which is about 30 miles North of London.
I became a bus driver for London Transport, driving a double decker bus.
I worked for them a couple years then took up training to be come a Maintenance Fitter,
Whilst training my money was low so I took on a job as a bouncer at a large dance hall called the ?Mecca? doing the evening hours.
Not much happened just fights and sexual misbahaviuor by some customers.
I passed the training and got a job with a small engineering firm, stayed for a time then worked for Morse Chains a subsidiary to Borg Warners the gear box people.
We emigrated to Australia living for a year in Melbourne, moved to Perth Western Australia. Perth is like an holiday destination so there was no need to go on hliday!
I bought a 16 foot cabin cruiser and took up scuba diving with my young son, I gave up on the scuba gear and bought a ?hookaa? instead, for the unenlightened that is a 5horse petrol motor driving an air compressor, we could dive to a hundred feet on the air line without losing sight of each other. Kept diving for about two years then sold it and had a below ground swimming pool put in the garden. The amazing thing is I cannot swim and I still cant but the excitement when under water was terrific.
We did drive over east and went through Queensland upto Mackay, where we ran out of spending money and had to drive back down to Brisbane to get work. Stayed there for about four months then went down to Melbourne to meet my son?s fianc?. Stayed there for a couple of months then drove home to Perth.
Another time we took job?s at Fitzroy Crossing up North, where you have to go to believe how nice and dangerous it is up there. The Fitzroy River housed Shark?s ,Sting ray?s ,Sword fish ,Fitzroy Crocodiles, Sea water Crocodiles, and if that was not enough they had some of the world?s most dangerous snake?s as well. While there I helped to save the life of a you boy who nearly drowned when he got carried away by the current.
Anyway our daughter was living in London with her grandmother so we decided to have a working holiday back in England, so we returned to Cornwall on the South coast and bought a fish and chip shop. Stayed two miserable years before we could sell up and return to Perth.
This was around 1984 ( time fly?s when your having fun). We have bought and sold 7 houses to date since returning, but a total to date 17 houses to date, and we are thinking of moving again. One house was in Kattaning which is a country town s/e of Perth and 3 hour drive to Perth. Sorry if I have lost you but we get a bit lost ourselve;s.
We moved back to the City for medical reasons, our health is getting worse.
My wife and I have been together now for 60 years and we have been married for 55 of them.
I have been an eGO member for over 8 years and have been an admin for most of them, I have enjoyed the company of so many friends I have made here, talking to up to 4 friends at a time on Steam chat. I look forward to a few more years with eGOs.
