Is this 960gb SSD a good deal?

That's a pretty sweet deal. $199 isn't bad. I threw a Samsung Evo SSD in my laptop and it's worked wonders, but I believe I paid a tad more than $199 for it. I have a Toshiba 256GB in my desktop back home and it's been very reliable.

So I'd say, yes! For the price it's a great SSD. Good read and write speeds as well.

This is a great deal! The fact that it supports SATA3 is the most important part, if you have an old PC, your drive controller is probably SATA2 and can only handle up to 3 gb/s. Toshiba has been a good company based on my previous experiences.

I have heard speeds are good, but a lot of reviewers I am seeing report random failures around 2 months. I would spend a bit more for a Samsung EVO series drive, that may be slightly less space but much more reliable.

A few users seem to be reporting compatibility issues as well

The only SSD I will never advise on is Kingston. Samsung is my go to but for that price its not bad.

Spoke with a friend who got one of these, after seeing the thread earlier. He had his die after about 2 months as well.

For that price range you could get a reasonably large (250-256GB) SATA-III SSD by Samsung like the EVO or Pro, then use the money left over to buy a 1-2TB HDD or SSHD like a WD Caviar Black or Seagate FireCuda

Can't say enough good things about the Samsung EVO and PRO series drives. I've been using the 840 for 4 years now without a single hiccup, and I purchased an 850 about 8 months ago for my Macbook Pro, with awesome results.

Definitely! I recommend Samsung SSDs to all my friends who are looking to buy a solid state because they have great options for entry-level AND top of the line builds

The above posts say it all. As I stated in my post the EVO series is a fantastic one. Even previous generation EVOs still hold up well nowadays.

I'd say you save up for the new 60TB SSD coming out soon. That'll be a steal (kappa)

If I had the funds I would definitely jump on that deal!!!

A good amount of SSDs are close to the original price that that is in addition to more depending on the brand and whatnot.
