Seeding our regular and event server

Hey guys, as Event Co-ordinator I am doing everything I can to get the most out of our Event Server and keep it alive.

We've had some great times and events in that server and I would love to be able to keep it that way. That being said, I will be putting up a custom rotation every week for you guys to enjoy and each week will be a different rotation based on different types of play. In doing this I hope to see the Event Server have some form of activity, be it big or small. You guys also have a say in what you want to see in the rotations, be it map or game mode, all it takes is a single PM to me on the website and I can sort it out for you within minutes of seeing your message.

Seeding The Operation Metro Server

Seeding any server can be a struggle, but in recent times Metro has been low in players (until peak times) and we already know that Leadership are doing everything they can to keep Metro alive. Members complained when Leadership announced Metro was being removed but due to the voice of members, the server was kept up for us to enjoy.

Now that we have kept the server we now need those who defended and those who enjoy Metro, to try and seed the server wherever possible. You made your point and fought well, now stand and hold your ground, use that server well. It doesn't matter if it's just 2, 3 or 4 people for several hours, what matters is the server has activity. Without activity then the server will have to removed. EdgeGamers cannot fund servers that only show activity for a couple of hours a night, it is seen as a waste of money.

Now I understand that players want to sometimes play on other servers, or play other games, or simply not play at all. That's understandable, but all I personally ask is just 10 - 15 minutes of your time shows Leadership that there are people who use the server and of course I know that we all enjoy it.

Continue doing pistols/bows/knives or weapon challenges to help seed the server, they are fantastic ideas and even the pubbers coming in are asking and doing the same. It's great to see those outside of the community understanding what we are trying to do and respect the fact that it is to help seed and get the server going.

Here you can see the last 24 hours of the Metro server as of the time this thread was posted:

Now compare that to the last 24 hours of the Lockers Server:

Both servers are popular, both maps are great, but metro only lasts for 3 or 5 hours a time. We all loved lockers, played it 24/7 almost. When Metro was announced we all rushed over to it and played the hell out of it, but it appears that members are just not "interested" anymore.

Using our DropBox Service

Remember guys, if you have any ideas/suggestions/concerns with the servers, whether it be gamemode/time/points, please make a DropBox post and Leadership will review your post and get back to you. Your voice kept Metro, maybe your voice and make changes to a server that might be beneficial.

You can use the DropBox service right here:

Thanks for the read guys, I know it was long but this has been something on my chest for a while and it'd be a real shame to see any of our servers let go.

See you on the battlefield

LBr, can you change the size of the font of your post? Someone four towns over can read this on my monitor and they are asking for our Teamspeak server address. ;)

A suggestion that I have? Last time I'll suggest it. Put a message in the scrolling autochat for the popular servers advising players to check out other servers. There is probably a great deal of people that snagged the SA DLC, but don't even know that we have a metro server. Hell, I even read about a dynamic message plug in that will display when certain conditions are met. I've also done this as well:

Anything to get more people in. And usually when we seed it, people start coming in. It takes a bit, but it does get going. However, wanted to point out to you that the graphs over the last 24 hours are kinda anomalies, simply because there was an issue with Metro and Lockers in which they needed to be restarted. Check out your graphs that you posted; both show a drop at the same time.

Also, I'll just put this bluntly: We want this server to stay alive. We understand that eGO does not (and will not) pay for a server that stays empty more than it is full. With that said, please stop threatening us with what we already realize; we get the point. I've read that verbage before, multiple times, we all have. Just keep in mind that there are those that help seed (I try when I can, but, with my work hours, it's mostly impossible to kick this off during the week) and get this going, and a little appreciation goes a long way for those that help seed, as it's not a requirement for anyone to do this, it's out of interest and passion.

I know it's the silly predicament of who pays what and why but it's still the thing that happens if the activity stays low.

Of course those who seed are appreciated and I feel like I have disrespected those who do by not crediting them. Those who sees, long or short, your time helping to fill the server almost always keeps it alive and is greatly appreciated.

As for seeding, no it is not and never will be a requirement. That will never change. I'm not asking for people to force themselves to seed, please do so on your own free will in your own free time if needed. :)
