On Saturday, we introduced our new language policy. Before I begin, I want to explain why this policy was implemented. EGO Mature Online Gaming Since 2006 has been our slogan. Since the beginning or our existence, people have said profane words on our servers, communication services (Ventrilo/TeamSpeak), and typed them on our forums. Our stance was to admin every profane word said, and it detracted from admins playing games and having fun. As time moved on, our games and stances changed. We've grown as adults, and we're wanting to continue as a Mature Online Gaming community.

Ok, now it's time for the words you've been waiting for!

The OFFICIAL explanation of our NEW language rule!

Our updated RULES

Swearing is permitted on our servers and TeamSpeak. BEFORE you rage flip your computer desks, let me explain. As i've stated earlier, swearing has been happening in our community since our beginning. All we're doing now is relaxing the responsibility of our admins. Now our admins can play and enjoy their games without having to pause all the time to W/K/B. The key word is excessive swearing. Again, people swear on our servers all the time, but now if the same person swears like a sailor, that would constitute excessive, if they use the same word over and over again, that would constitute excessive. The key to this policy is your common sense. You, as an admin get to decide when excessive is breached, or when a person has gone too far. We're still supporting you all as admins to ensure our servers, TeamSpeak, and forums remain PUNK FREE, and enjoyable for all.

If you're still confused, I would say just handle it like you would any Rated R room in TS.

There you go! If you still want to talk about this, please PM me, and i'll talk with you. Let's not turn this into a flame war!

Thanks for the clarification Hammer, this should help clear up some questions with our admins.

Thanks for the clarification, Hammer. I had my doubts about this change for sure, but I believe I'm coming to terms with it. I encourage anyone who's upset or concerned about it to simply give it a chance and some time.

The reason I joined eGO in the first place was because of the zero-tolerance rules for strong language of any sort. I'm sad to see this change, but I will follow our new policies as befits a responsible admin.

Nicely said!

P.S. Hammer, If you need help to translating this for our Russian members, then let me know.
(I will then speak in Russian to my mirror)

xD

I feel as though this is a restatement of the exact same thing we were told before. By "easing" our job as administrators, all we accomplished was making our servers dirtier and an unpleasant place to play.
