Anyone else having to deal with Amazon Prime requiring signatures lately?

Just had a package, the first in 5 years, attempted for delivery at 9:46 this morning. Nobody was here to accept it so they re-delivered it to a UPS store in some shopping center. I'm not picking it up, and I'm not waiting around the house or taking a day off work to sign for a package so I told them to cancel the order, re-route delivery back to amazon warehouse.

Amazon tried to give me some story of certain products they sell may require signatures because the box is small, the item is fragile, or expensive. It is a 14.99 electronic item. They always put a tiny item in a box the size of a car so I really doubt the box is too small to leave at my door. I have ordered televisions, a fridge, expensive computer components, candy, food, dog food, appliances, computer monitors, deodorant, literally everything you could think of and I have never been required to sit at my door waiting for the driver to come, which could be at any time during the day up to 8PM at night. And I don't pay for Amazon prime to go pick them up at a store either lol. I remember Amazon used to require signatures but they stopped that years ago, due to the volume of products they ship, and the inconvenience, now all their shipping labels literally say "Carrier - Leave if no response"

I've had packages sometimes need a signature, sometimes not. No rhyme or reason. I figured it was to due with the seller. I usually just end up having them drop it off at a local UPS spot and grab it there later on.

Yea I don't get it, because it says right on their website

We do not require a signature upon delivery. However, occasionally our shipper will require a signature or leave a notice for pickup if they deem it unsafe to leave the package unattended at your shipping address.

UPS tracking specifically says the signature was required at the request of the sender. it wasn't the driver. She even called UPS who said the same thing, that it would require a signature again if they attempted re-delivery to my house.

Around this time of year typically they won't just leave packages laying on your doorstep for obvious reasons (for those who don't know, people love to prowl neighborhoods and look for packages on people's doorsteps). So it might have been that.

Shits Annoying dude i have 15 coming tomorrow and i have a meeting with a producer i'm gonna have to reschedule because of this.

So far I have had 3 packages since that one and none have required a signature. Hoping it stays that way and that package was just a random exception to their no signature required rule they have gone by for years.

Yea Lemming, they have started leaving the packages on the side of our house not in view of the road anymore.
