RE: All this drama (From a former CS leadership member)
Hey everyone,
I am not sure who all of you remember me, but I have been in eGO since we have had a single DoD:S server playing 24/7 Ava (forum member #251 at the time, woo!). I helped start the CS division (back when we had 3 separate websites, for 3 different divisions!) as an advisor, moved to start the INS division (Which became OP:X, then on and on from there) as a DL, and then came back to CS where I stayed until I retired from leadership due to school and University.
I see a lot of drama, people worrying, and stuff that frankly does not need to be happening. As someone who has been in the thick of it with leadership and knows how things work behind the curtain, let me enlighten my fellow members who are unaware of what it takes to run eGO and provide the services that we do to our members.
It is stressful. There is a lot that goes on that leadership has to deal with that the lay member has no idea about. The smoother you think things are running, the more stressed and harder worked your leadership will be for you.
Yes, there is "political" fighting within private when talking about matters that effect all of you. Each division has to work together and like any situation or group with a power hierarchy, "politics" come into play to make sure you can do the best by your group.
This can lead to being forced to work with people you don't like. Perfect example of this is Legend and myself. When we were both in CS leadership, we had a couple of arguments and did not always see eye to eye. We had a difference in approach to the division that we loved so much and we thought our own idea was the better way to grow. We are perfectly okay now, but I remember being so angry at him sometimes that it felt like we would never agree again.
Yes it sucks that all of them left at once. For some it might look like a play for attention. Others might be confused as why everyone left at once. But the best part is that it DOES NOT MATTER!
Leadership might help guide the division and handle problems on the back-end, but they are not what makes the CS division the best one out there. It is YOU. The person who has taken a vested interest in this community. YOU took on the responsibility of being an admin or work towards becoming one. YOU are the people that enable us to run a well oiled machine. Without YOU, CS would have nothing to it.
Leadership will come and go, as it always has, but as long as YOU stay in CS, believe in the bigger picture, the community, and the camaraderie of it all, then this division will always continue on as it has through the years.
