Steam Account Hijacked and Other Things

By now it's widely known that the main EdgeGamers Steam account has been hijacked and is currently spewing nonsense and hate for our great community. It's embarrassing and hurtful, especially because the person who hijacked the account was Christy, the former Community Manager for the CS division. Christy was a longtime friend of many of us. He was liked and trusted, and we've met in person and had a great time. Apparently, he had been fooling us for many years.

He stepped down as a CM on December 18th stating, "I don't have the enthusiasm and drive to keep on doing things". The very same day, his entire leadership team quit as well. They agreed to stick around to help with the transition but we decided to set their admin level to eGO and get new leadership in place immediately to start fresh. Christy's CM access was left for a few more days.

It didn't take long for bad actors to start causing issues. Some have been banned and more bans are certain to come. The list of ex-members we've banned so far have proven to be the type of punks that we ban everyday. So far we've gotten rid of LarryTheTomato, Mac'N'Cheats, Crush Bundacoot, Slime, population, murica#xtas, Scott and DigitalDJ. DigitalDJ wasn't part of the CS departure but decided to weigh in on the hijacked Steam account with inflammatory comments about EGO.

Part of DJ's complaints were that Directors are only concerned about money. We'll address this now because there have been similar comments made recently. These comments are made by individuals who obviously live a life free of financial obligations or they are too immature and entitled to understand the real world. The following is an explanation of real life for any of you reading this that fit those descriptions. 99% of you don't need to read the next paragraph.

You guys get to play on our servers for free and use our website and TeamSpeak for free. There are leaders in the community with different responsibilities. Some make sure the members are happy and having fun. Some have to figure out how to pay for all this great stuff you get to use for free. mmmK?

That was painful to write. We hope it was simple enough.

With that out of the way, we can concentrate on the issue at hand. We are doing what we can to get back our Steam account. It's the property of EdgeGamers and the people who are in control at the moment are doing harm to this community. The harm is calculable and we will use every tool at our disposal to retrieve our property and hold responsible those who cause us harm.

In the meantime we'll have fun and continue to be the punk-free community we are famous for.

There's no miscommunication. The New Leadership that was put in place was Legend, who is putting his plans into place after the New Years.

I can understand your disbeliefs. There's a lot of people giving Leadership a lot of shit, who don't deserve it. They work hard..For free..Especially from someone who knows what its like, being previous Leadership. After all, this shit did happen around holidays, at particular timing.

Artimus is a very busy man. I'd expect him to have some hand in this report. Why don't you try reminding him in the DropBox?

Wow, Christy was the one that made me leave the clan years back. Dude made it his mission to give me grief after every move I made. Always made it seem like he was the responsible adult and I was acting childish (maybe just a little). Funny that this is how he goes down. Glad everything is in Legend's hands now, he was the DL during what was, in my biased opinion, the height of the CS division.

I can only think of a couple people that have asked for that. If people don't trust us they shouldn't donate. Regardless, it's inappropriate for a company like ours to make our financial business public. It's also a pain to update constantly with the changes we make.

I don't get you N NMsniper . If you think the upper levels of leadership were stealing, why are you a dedicated supporter and have been in the community for 6 years? Why would you waste your time, effort, and money supporting those that you think are doing something wrong against you? It does not make any logical sense at all. As Mike mentioned, if you think something was fishy, say something or just dont donate!

Way back in the day we had a small monthly donation tracker when we had a lot less going on and only like 3 servers. The issue with that was that people would hold off on donations or not donate if it was close to the goal or end of the month. Plus with our more dynamic services, its a lot harder to put a price on things. Overall it ended up doing more harm than good and that is why it was removed.

But it's also pretty convenient to only be so vocal about it now, instead of voicing a concern when you are in a position of leadership. When I was a DL and Advisor I would have brought that up until I got an answer that satisfied my question. Leadership does have a venue to talk about this in private (as finances should be, like Mike has said over and over again). Not speaking up for something this big to be bothering you is irresponsible to any member of leadership (see CS situation). In all his time in leadership, did he make a fuss about it? If not, then I just see it as adding fuel to the fire for drama.
