Hacker in Avalanche server

There has been a hacker recently in the Avalanche server who aimbots with an mg killing everyone, constantly changes his name, and controls other players with similar and quickly changing names. He also changes names to copy other players and admins in the server to make it hard to do anything, and I ended up banning myself as he griefed the server. Who can fix this?

I went in and unbanned you. If you can, next time, do a status and try and get his steam id.

The thing that helped me with the hacker that I removed several hours ago was sm_statushist - shows you who recently changed their name and how long ago, along with their server uID (not the steamID or the uID found on their GameMe) that is found next to their name when you type status.

Example of what shows in sm_statushist

1. UID #30386 - 'NAME1' to 'NAME2' (13 sec ago)

After recording a quick demo, banned him with that same uID (since it was a blatant/obvious aimbot, and if you try banning via admin menu or via the name, easy to accidentally ban an innocent bystander )

This same aimbot package seems to be popular right now. It is showing up alot in the last week or so.

Quick check of stats page when the player is in server will show a +90% headshots. The player info will be on stats page to be the evidence for ban request posting.

Is Source-Mod Anti-Cheat running? I believe eGO should have it running on their servers as a further anti-cheat. It ought to detect aimbots pretty easily. If it is not detecting aimbots, then the admins can try lowering the "eye-angles check" to enlarge the scope of the anti-cheat. Unless, they are running an more natural aimbot which does not snap to headshots, SMAC will not detect those.

We have SMAC, but it is by-passable via mouse+key inputs rather than commands.

The code for SMAC is open source, so it doesn't take much imagination for those who wish to bypass it to do so.

You can get this all straightened out there. In the top of the screen is a big yellow box with 'contest your ban here'. Just click on that, and Im sure someone can help you quickly

I never actually seen them playing, but I heard reports from a few people that they were cheating
and changing names.

I was on the server at the time, and I saw them changing their name to other player names.
I took down their information and did a screenshot, unfortunately it didn't take (grrr).

It was when they changed their name to my username (with ascii), that I banned them for 4 hours for "Cheating"

I cannot prove one way or another that they were cheating, other than the good authority of a few regulars playing.
So I at least banned them on the grounds of impersonating an admin, in conjunction with the other name changes, and cheating complaints.

Here you can see he was spamming chat, right before he changed his name to mine.
about the time that "unforgettable vegetable" says 'Kaboooooommmmmmm!!!' was the time of my ban.
