For those of you who don't know the Fire Emblem series, it is a loooong-running series that falls into the strategy/role-playing genre. They get pretty deep into tactical elements and each move you make actually makes it even more tactical. As you progress through the story, you will meet and bid farewell to many allies.
Interested yet? Well let's hold off real quick. It IS a mobile game, so you will be dealing with the "stamina" cliche. That being said, you already have in mind "Oh, it's a f2p, so they want you to pay a lot of money to actually play it." Nope! Right off the bat, they give you so much to start out, that you'll be good for a good long time. Summons, stamina restores, upgrades. Lots of em. As you play, you get them, slowly, but not randomly or every so often.
So, to the game: (A trailer by Nintendo. You can see some of the gameplay at about 1:20 as it starts to go into detail about the game)
Pros-
- Plays almost exactly like a console/handheld Fire Emblem Game.
- Pulls characters from across the entire series, both main and side characters.
- Story is it's own and just pulls from the different timelines/universes within the series.
- Their way of getting you to save/buy items needed for summoning more allies is great. (If you summon more than 1 at a time, the price starts to drop per summon.)
- Upgrading your castle lets you level up your allies faster! You don't have to waste stamina on older, lower level maps to level them up to your current location.
- Playing with friends is slightly limited right now, but has plans to be expanded. Lets you and your friends collect special items!
- Different maps each time you play. Harder difficulties mix up the troops too!
Cons-
- If you want to play for hours on end, prepare to pay money. It is meant for short bursts of play, just like majority of mobile games.
- RNG is RNG! (Summons, stats, items)
- Summon items come slow (1 per first time map clear) in a guarantee. After that it's for achievements/challenges and daily log-ins. (Or Purchase!)
- Getting free allies (no cost to summon) can be a bit difficult since you need to do "special" maps. Some of these are harder to complete if you have just started or have lower level allies.
- Above mentioned special maps are only available for a limited time, so if you can't do it in that time, they're gone until they decide to put them back up.
- Stats are complete RNG. You could have 2 allies, same level, same rating, different stats. As they level up, stats level differently. As you 'unlock their potential', they are different. EVEN THEIR GROWTH RATES ARE DIFFERENT! AGHHHH RNG!
- Could use some more content. (Currently has story, training, pvp, events, and special maps)
TL;DR: IT IS FIRE EMBLEM AS A MOBILE GAME.
In all, I enjoy it. Not just as a Fire Emblem fan, but as a mobile gamer! I am not a fan of RNG, especially when you can't just save/restart to get better stats, but that's life! My friend code is 2669634686 if you decide to pick it up, or already have it!
