I have a suspicion that someone is cheating

In the 32 player Convoy server. His username is akfivethousand.

When I was playing, he had no other class picked except sniper. What I'm saying is that is it highly improbable for someone to get that many no-scope headshots like that in the game.

I was playing as Scout and running across the bridge. He was on the platform where the metal/med bottle is scoping BLU base. I shot him once, he turned around quickly, and no scoped. I died. It was as if he still at 100% and in-scope. He must have killed me ten times and every single one of those kills was a headshot and and no-scope. How is that possible? I can understand pulling off one or two within an entire game - hell, I've done that before, but it's always been REALLY close range.

He has to be getting help.

Further, in his Steam profile, it says he's played 60 hours of sniper, while his lowest time played is a half hour (Heavy) - how is it that a person can play 60 hours of a class and not explore any other class for more than a mere hour? It doesn't balance out.

This post was almost not made on the account of the fact that I'll likely be flamed because there is a possibility of cheating on an EG server, however, I really wanted to express my disdain for this player and his shady practices.

This is the first time I've ever had a suspicion that someone was cheating in a TF2 server since my joining Steam. If I'm unfounded, so be it. It's still pathetic.

There are lots of instances of cheating on eGO servers, thats part of the reason our ban list is so large. That being said there's nothing we can do after the fact unless you recorded a demo to submit. I will keep an eye out for them, as will other admins that read this thread.

Thanks for playing eGO, we'll certainly do our best to keep cheaters off the servers.

Can a mod please lock unless they feel there's room for further constructive discussion on this matter?

EDIT: I should also mention, in the future please feel free to use the Ban Request forum and the form therein. Even if you don't have a demo to merit a ban, it's best to keep all posts of this nature in a central location for the admins' reference.

Cheers,
- Dryft

I'm pretty sure I have ~60 hours demo ~30 hours pyro and <1 hour on engie, medic, sniper. Whatever that's worth.

BTW I have 102 hours of sniper and 1 hour of heavy. I just don't like heavy. Nothing wrong with having favorites and dislikes :)

As for him getting close range headshots, it is VERY probable, as I do it all the time. You get used to player movements after awhile. Dunno about him though, because I wasn't there. If you see him again and really think he might be aimbotting, just go spec and take a demo. You might be watching him and notice he is just good or that his shots really don't look that difficult after all. On the other hand, you might notice that hey, yeah, it really does look like his is aimbotting, and just send the demo in with a request ban.

The thing you got to understand is that some players just aren't interested in many of the classes. I have about 250 as an engineer, but only 15 hours with a sniper. Of course, I actually go out and try the other classes a lot, some people just aren't that interested.

Of course, like Thatguy and Dryft said, it's best to get a demo when you are unsure of the situation, but make sure everyone is not calling "hacks!" on him, otherwise, you will scare them off, and have no proof.

If you suspect someone is hacking on the server, feel free to record a demo(and then post in the request bans, and send the demo over to eGOadvisors@ gmail.com), but by all means don't make a public thing out of it by calling the person a hacker in the server. Like Booster said he'd probably turn them off by then.
