Why did you join eGO?

I had played our jail server once or twice with a friend, but what really brought me here was the Insurgency Servers. eGO had the best variety, including the Dust2 port. It was only hosted on one other server and it was filled with spam and bad plugins. The eGO server was clean and had a great connection with me. I got hooked fast, we had cool plugins and the map was super fast paced. After playing a few days, a user invited me to join eGO. I visited the forums and loved it - I enjoyed foruming and the place was lively, active, and had great talk for a variety of games and topics I liked (Computers, movies, gaming).

I kept seeing people mention the word "Ventrilo", and found out about it. Armed with my $2 microphone and headphones, I jumped on and was greeted by some great people - Turk, Ice hearted killer, gen-ig, and ShEpArDofGOD, just to name a few of the great members. We had some hilarious events and great talks on Ventrilo.

After a few months I began to branch out to eGO's other games. USCG Hammer gifted me a copy of The Orange Box and I got hooked on Team Fortress 2. I'm still hooked on it. The guys in eGO helped me get into a variety of games - EVE, DoD, Planetside 2, and many more.

eGO Pride - Why you choose to game here / What keeps you with eGO?

The community has been filled with some of the best friends I've ever met. I think myself and spidEY are about to celebrate about 6 years of Facebook friendship alone. Clean servers, good connection, and the most fun community keep me coming back and staying with eGO. I haven't found another community that has brought me the happiness that eGO has.

Everyone has a story to share Also, you don't have to use all three topics if you don't want to or feel that you don't have a story for all of them. They're just there so people have a choice of what they want to write about.

Okay I was recruited in November of 2015 by hyper penguin. I had been playing jail for about 4 months so everyone that played a lot knew my name. So I was playing jail on night escape and I can tell you the cell I was in when I was recruited. So ya pretty average story.

My favorite memories are late night jail back when it was really thriving. Also playing 10 mans are always litty.

The reason I chose eGO was because I could warden without being harassed for my squeaky voice. Also no cursing kept server less toxic so it was really fun. Also I met some really chill people to play with that are still playing jail w/ me today. That's why I've stayed here for a year.

Why did I join eGO?
Almost quickly befriended me while playing on the jail server and we joined the community together, I stayed within the community because I found how great everyone in it was. I quickly made new friends of people that had also just been recruited (Luke_swear, Boltaction, Beaul etc.) One of the funny aspects of my recruitment was that I joined partly because oh how much I enjoyed the warden on my first round in the server. I was new yet he helped me, guided me and I ended up getting lr on my first round which just added to how much I was enjoying myself (that began my addiction of getting lr). My first experience on the server was so enjoyable I couldn't wait to join.

Favorite eGO memories?
All of my memories made in the community are priceless and I wouldn't give them up for anything. I love eGO events and to all the newer members out there, just know thats where the greatest memories lie. I couldn't possible pick a favorite memory in this community because there are just so many however I would have to say my promotion is up high on my list of greatest moments, 10 mans with the squad, karaoke night and late night jail.

After purchasing CS:S with a friend for the sole purpose of gungame I found myself alone and bored one night. I was browsing servers when I found this gamemode called "Jailbreak". I had never heard of this gamemode before so I decided to dive in and find out what it was about. I found myself in the server with crazyemo and I guess I had fun because I kept coming back. I was later recruited by Captain Nighthawk (I think??) and this choice to join eGO might have been one of my most influential decisions so far.

After being in eGO for some time and meeting some of the most amazing people on the planet I decided to try out for the CS:S competitive team. Somehow, despite being terrible, I ended up making the cut. The team transitioned over to CS:GO and I progressed from there. We played a season or two of CEVO and I ended up joining another team, playing another season or two of CEVO and then came back to eGO to represent them with my team in ESEA and at Fragadelphia 7. Somewhere in this mess I was still active in eGO and ended up leaving to join another community, only to return like a week later. Also after I returned to eGO with my team I assisted in the kick start of EGOpro, which consisted of Jimmy Kudo and Bane/ggHoodie at the start. They casted almost all of our matches and the support the team got from the community was incredible. None of us had ever had a match streamed before and being able to represent this community was amazing, even if we lost most of our matches.

I was also an EC for a lot of my time in this community. It was a great way to connect with everybody here and helped me develop some social skills that I lacked at the time. Being able to host events was an amazing opportunity and I recommend that everyone applies to become an EC at least once while they are in eGO, it's an experience that you shouldn't miss out on.

With joining eGO came the introduction of friends, role models, and the discovery of my passion. There are so many people that I have befriended in eGO, some have left, some have passed, some have disappeared, and some are still around eGO. While I have become disconnected with most of these people, many of them will remain as a permanent mark in my memory. I like to think that because of the nature of eGO and how nice many of the people were while I was growing up, I ended up being a better person. I stayed within eGO for a while because of the community but later on my thirst for competition took over and I began to focus more on playing CS:GO competitively. (I also had to fulfill the tradition of MOTY) I still browse the forums now and then to check up on eGO, just because I have a huge amount of respect for everyone here who keeps this community clean.

Why did you join eGO?
I was playing TF2 and came across eGO's TF2 server way back when Scrappydoo was here. He promoted me to eG after a few weeks of dedication. I originally started in the TF2 division before getting hooked into our CS Jail server, back when we had one.


Favorite eGO memories
One of my favorite eGO memories was when we had eGO meetings, only for eGO's back in the day and Austin promoted me to eGO right after I got out of the shower in Ventrilo. A second one was getting DL and running the division. Being promoted to Leadership after working so hard and going against incredible odds is an amazing experience. Later on, I made Community Manager, and got demoted back to Divisional Leader for making some pretty silly choices. Now I'm inactive because I'm not going to have Leadership capability in a limited spot, nor do I care to go and ask for any position in eGO. If people need help, I'm here. If not, I'm AFK.

I joined because Zer0cool recruited me, but I didn't say that he recruited me on the list. It was like 2 months later I joined. I hardly liked CS:GO back then until I played on this server. This jailbreak server back in 2015 was super active and ttt was the dead server. So pretty much the only reason I got hooked on to CS:GO is because of jail. I learnt so much back in the jail server it was very fun and exciting back in 2015 where all the fun players would join and make the server even more fun. I remember it was even better when RDK would make secrets, and I would screen record it and take a few hours watching the tape over and over because of the fake tricks he would do when we spectate him.

Why did you join eGO?: I was a part of management on another gaming for a year before I joined eGO. Needless to say, I didn't really like my old community. The ennui of having to deal with 13 year olds screaming on TeamSpeak, excessive drama, and lack of maturity made me lose interest in working there. Other management have realized this and have decided to resign and never come back; many of which were the people I liked. After hearing that the owner and founder of the community has decided to leave his own community to focus on real-life events, and that some bellend that just smokes weed all day will run the community for now on will take over, I decided to resign from my position and leave.

A day later; my friend from a TF2 community years ago, Twizz_Army, told me about this community and how mature the staff/members are. After hearing this I decided to sign up on the forums and join eGO's TeamSpeak channel, saw that there was an Overwatch Division and decided to stay. After joining I was greeted with respect, and have realized how right Twizz was about eGO. I've only been here for two weeks and I have come to like this community and the people equally.

Favorite eGO memories : So far, I enjoyed the karaoke night event from about a week ago the most. I was enticed to sing, but I was too shy to use my microphone. Instead I stayed to listen to people sing. There was this one girl (I'm sorry for forgetting your name) who was nervous about singing, but killed on the mic. I, along with the rest of the channel, were blown away on how great her singing was.

eGO Pride : As I said before, it's refreshing to see a large community like this to have fun, but at the same time be mature. What drew me in was the inclusion of divisions for multiple games, including Overwatch. As I stay on eGO, I hope to meet new people and have a good time playing here.

Why did you join eGO? My gaming group at the time was starting to disband, so I went on the hunt to find a group that was mature-minded and used effective team tactics. eGO just so happens to support every major game I play, so I guess you could say it was a match made in gaming heaven. Some of the Leadership members for my division at the time were folks like ScrappyDoo, PurpleNurple, Respawn, djsatan, and djsatanswife. Very cool people.

Favorite eGO memories : Participating in the very first inter-clan Team Fortress 2 League in 2009. I captained a team called Inflated eGO to the semifinals (look us up in the forums to check out some of our old results) that featured members like Omniblast, The Shape, DeFy, Crickit, and Grasshopper. It was a blast playing somewhat competitively amongst the other members of eGO. Neurofo, Russkie, and Sandman were also generous enough to include me in the Advisory Panel regarding ideas and feedback for that league since it was new at the time. It was a somewhat "unofficial" and behind the scenes type of role, but I very much enjoyed it nonetheless.

eGO Pride - I stay with eGO for the good times, and there's been plenty of them. Whether it's Black Mesa Sunday or Warpath Wednesday, you can always game with the best.

Why did you join eGO?: Truthfully, back when I was sixteen, I bought CS:S to play on my laptop. It was my first PC shooter. I ended up on the 24/7 Dust2 server and had a blast. I loved the game and was hooked immediately. I saw in the chat that eGO was recruiting and figured I'd give it a shot, and here I am now. Nobody really recruited me, I just wanted to be a part of the community.

Favorite eGO memories: Killing Cow on Jail event nights and getting easy casino cash. Hanging out on Ventrilo with Judge while he interrupted everything I said with a sound clip of an airhorn and later giving me the apple bottom jeans award for putting up with it. Always talking about the newest Anime with _MEGA. Being involved with organized rebellions on Jail. Staying up until 3AM playing jail with almost a full server and pretending I was sick so I didn't have to go to high school the next day.

eGO Pride: (AKA, the big one)
eGO Is, and always will be, a kind of second home to me. I've gotten through a lot of rough periods in my life, simply by being able to hop on my computer, load up a game and just have some fun without a ton of drama by playing on our servers. Jail in particular will always hold a special place in my heart for being some of the most fun I've ever had in a video game. One of the reasons I'm so invested into eGO again is, simply put, the Jail server.

Looking back to when I first joined and before I left, Jail was a server I rarely had a dull moment with. I want to bring to all of our members, regulars, and even people that stop by once in a while to Jail, the kind of fun and enjoyment I always got out of it back then. I want to bring Jail to a point where people never have a dull moment, where every round plays out a little differently. Where Ts organize rebellions and use teamwork to win. Where a Warden and his CTs are a force to be reckoned with, and not because they are overly strict (please don't be), but because they are smart and capable and it will take a lot of teamwork from the Ts to actually succeed in winning a round by rebelling. I want people to come by and smile and laugh and just have a good time. I've taken Jail in as sort of a personal "pet project" that I'll be putting a lot of time into as I truly want to see the server succeed. I've been contemplating working on guides for not only general rebelling strategies or being a warden/guard. But also map specific guides, like a tour. (possibly videos or text/images depending on what I feel would be easier for people to digest). I am willing to do whatever it takes to make Jail succeed and become a place where everyone wants to play and has fun every moment of the way.

I love Jail and I love eGO and I won't ever stop trying to make Jail the best server it can be.

Why did you join eGO?: Back in 2010 when I joined I was a FPS junky. I almost exclusively played CS:S. I happened across the EGO Office server and saw they offered free admin to members so decided to join. I stuck around so long because not a day goes by on here that I don't have a blast.

Favorite eGO memories: Most recent favorite memory is being entrusted with Overwatch alongside my awesome team.

Why did you join eGO?
The reason I joined eGO was because of encouragement from some friends. These friends (Sizedbbq7 and Ironpenguin12) are eGO's of the Day of Defeat division. I have known them for about 3-5 years. I am glad they were active members of eGO because without them I would never have known this community existed. My first division in eGO was the GMOD division. I joined up with them for about a week because I previously did admin work for GMOD communities for two years. Sizedbbq7 got me into playing a lot of CSGO around that time and I got addicted to the Jail and TTT servers. I then switched to the CS division and went from there.

Seriously though, I believe Xerneas, CrushBandicoot, and myself stayed for the entire event. It was lit and I had a great time. Truck wars was my favorite event and I also won fallout 4 during the 24 hour event.

eGO has had some ups and downs but I have met so many wonderful people and would love to play them again and again. The community still prides itself as racism free and I support that. I don't agree with removing the swearing rule but the people here make up for that.

Why did you join eGO?
So I was on a bus with Fullmetal heading to Otakon (anime convention) in 2013. eGO came up in conversation, i probably had just started playing TF2, i didnt have a gaming pc or laptop prior to this. Anyways, i joined OP:X because it was the only one that didnt require extra stuff to sign up for at the time and i had a WoW account. It looked like a cool place, dont get me wrong i was terrified of putting myself online with strangers, but thia place has changed me over the years to kinda try new things.


Favorite eGO memories most of my best times in eGO have been in TF2 events. I think back to the time i first got promoted, it was a Turbine event and i got kicked from the server lol i later get a congratulated and told ive been promoted to G. Later on I became EC Advisor and would host late night events with prizes for top kills. It would get very competitive and usually had a good crowd, i loved doing that! Eventually i decided to try other things that were a bit more casual and we did pokemon and nintendo themed maps, i even enlisted the help of Sharknado to make an award badge for us. Id give people fun commands towards the end and let people go at it lol. I have to say that my time doing that for eGO was my favorite memory because i got to meet a lot of people and while it wasnt always perfect it was fun.

Im really not quite sure anymore to be honest. Ive become friends with some of the members here outside of eGO and we talk on FB, snapchat. Steam even every other day.

i guess the reason Ive been kinda out of the scene lately. umm the people i know, we dont play at the same times or same games anymore even so its a bit of both that kinda has me on this..."what should i do now in eGO" mindset.. Im in the PSC but lets face it I dont reaallly have a gaming division to call home anymore. Im kinda just waiting and seeing at this point to see what happens with the new console gaming efforts, which are low right now because Zelda and the Switch are a thing now

Id like to see what happens with the Switch and Splatoon 2. i think there is a chance to explore tournament style events with consoles and maybe get into genres we havent in the past like fighting games for example though thats quite a far reach. So thats kinda where my attention will be in 2017.

Nonetheless, i think back to what this place has done for me and what i got out of it and will still comeback on after work to see whos around. I do love it here and will have a love hate relationship probably for as long as i stick around because i like the people ive meet here some have even moved on and we still talk once in a blue moon so its all good! Heres to possibly 4 more years ;D

Why did you join eGO?
Tell us if you have a great recruitment story. Who recruited you? On what server? etc.

Each of us come to eGO for our own reasons. I love telling stories by nature, just ask anyone who has been in a channel with me for over ten minutes. So forgive me if I indulge a bit here.

My story begins with a much younger -=DUH=-. Now, I have always loved video games. I started on NES and eventually moved to a PC. Gaming has always been about the people. I loved typing to people in early online games. Then a game came to me that opened a whole new realm of possibilities. Team Fortress 2 was one of the first games that I owned that came with voice built in. I loved it. I got to talk to people and wasn?t limited by typing between deaths or obscure shorthand. I played it every day alternating with Roasty and loved it.

Fast forward to January of 2016. I?m a social person that has been working in an extremely lonely and isolated environment for 3 years. No friends and I?m a talker who is going crazy. I?m poking at my computer trying to find something, anything to do. I notice I still have TF2 installed when a group notification for No Heroes pops up. I decide to open it up and see if I can find anyone who is talking. I boot up and play a few hours on a server then when it died bounce to another. It was amazingly fun. I found a server with people talking and we had a blast. I added a few of the crazies to my friends list and went and think that maybe I can play another day and talk to them again. A week goes by and it?s a Sunday night, one of the crazies I friended, named DeeLuxxed, pops up as playing TF2. It?s been a crappy day so I boot up and join his game. I have no idea what the map is but play anyway. There are people talking, and I get an hour of fun. The server closes and I end up playing on another server for a bit, before calling it a night. Someone mentions that it will happen again in a week. I come back and discover that I was coming to a weekly event called BlackMesa I put it on my calendar and plan on coming. The next week I?m there, but the server is super quiet. No one is talking; for me that ruins the game. I finally comment on the silence and a kid, 14th Eagle, pipes up that they are all in TeamSpeak and sends me a link.

It takes the entire event for me to get the stupid thing installed and working. I missed talking with everyone. I was bummed. But while most of them move rooms after the event, but a few stuck around. I get to talking to them and this crazy kid with a funny accent, Pzycho, asks if I want to join because they have other servers and people who are always talking. I shrug and decide to sign up even if it just to talk to people. I work my way through the join process and they message someone and get me accepted that night. I had e orientation that Thursday

Is this open to all Divisions? If so here is mine.

So after being disappointed in CoD (which is a Naughty language word in the BF Div.), I finally picked up BF3. Loved it sooooo much. Tanks, planes, bullet drop, recoil/recoil control, massive maps, etc..........I loved it. It was what I searched for for a long time not knowing what I was looking for. I had joined an eGO server (I forget which one most likely Pop Maps since it was Sienne Crossing where this happened) which I frequented often since I had good ping to the server. One day I was playing and hopped in a tank with some guy. I was gunning pretty good for him and was trying to get him to turn around since there was a LAV coming up behind us. Being fairly new to PC gaming and BF3, I didn't know how in game talk worked. So there I was yelling at my computer like a moron thinking the built in mic was picking it up. In chat I ended up saying he was a bad tank driver (which he wasn't) and a few people chimed in that he was ranked high in the world. So he let me drive the tank. Did all right up to the point where I promptly put the tank in the river. That person was KILLERCANKILL and instead of trolling me into oblivion, he instead invited me to join Edge Gamers to be able to learn how to play Battlefield. I stay here with the BF Division because of the community there.
